  1. I don't think it has anything to do with short or long sightedness. There have been many long term contracts in MLB history that the team would have been smart to wiggle out of after year 1 if given the chance.
  2. Yeah it all depends on internal projections. Kikuchi as a replacement level projection is worth negative 20M Stroman is owed $50M so I guess even if you project him to be worth $30M over two years (3-4 WAR total), him and Kooch are a wash; equal value. Actually looking at the salaries now I just can't see it happening. I forgot Kikuchi was front loaded. I guess you can still argue for it though if you: - assume Kikuchi is dead and replacement level or worse - think adding $15M AAV in payroll is worth going from Kikuchi to Stroman But nah never happening haha. I think if the Jays are spending an extra $15M they are targeting a one year free agent or maybe an RP + SP5 in free agency.
  3. I think if they could give Berrios away to wiggle out of the contract they would absolutely do it. When you sign a 3-4 WAR pitcher and he is replacement level in year 1 of a seven year contract you start to s*** bricks.
  4. but why would the Cubs even want Kikuchi Stroman for Berrios has appeal to both teams (well, probably not but you could squint and see it) if you assume the Cubs think Berrios is fine and want to control him that long Cubs get a younger pitcher to lead them through a rebuild. And he has been better historically. Jays get someone who was better in 2022 and has less total financial commitment so their SP payroll long term is less bloated. Maybe they get better in 2023 slightly and limit the downside on a potential albatross contract?
  5. Maybe there is some type of salary dump/swap trade that would work like if they think they can fix Berrios lol
  6. bruh Mike has 7 homers in two days and my Ace went down it's over
  7. At IHOP you have to get the pancakes that are basically birthday cake with icing and all that s***
  8. Catastrophic timing for the Rays and my fantasy team McClanahan has been less amazing lately I bet this has been affecting him for a few weeks
  9. It's f***ed up dude but they are all worth owning in a 20 team league. Kremer 3.24 ERA and good K/BB Bradish 3.95 xFIP and decent K/BB Voth decent K/BB and 2.72 ERA Watkins 3.96 ERA and on a hot streak lmao it's the ballpark I think Lyles is doing well. Wells was before injury.
  10. I currently own 4/5 of the Baltimore rotation
  11. Bumgarner is almost 30 team droppable haha. Not quite (nobody is) but it's been rough lately.
  12. Alright man, you need to start typing less. As a communication improvement. You stick your points within way too many words and it all gets lost.
  13. I am done analyzing this team or even thinking about them until they go on a streak I think they are just a bunch of losers basically Mental midgets
  14. Why sit the other two?
  15. that doesn't even look like 1000 people
  16. "it would be nice to have a big LHB" sure, of course "the Jays are underperforming because they are too right handed" stfu
  17. Anecdotes mean nothing anyway You'd have to look at the entire sample. Some type of analysis like "RHP with plus breaking balls" or "RHB with plus velocity" vs Toronto They are #3 against RHP this year so I assume they do well against every sample of RHP. From time to time a rookie or random RHP holds them at bay and that is frustrating and plays into certain narratives but... that happens to every team.
  18. I think they should have more balance ideally and I would not expect the numbers to be the same moving forward But I see tons of people blaming the 2022 issues on the lack of an impact LHB and that's just asinine really. Like, it's dumb. There is no connection. There is a logical disconnect.
  19. I would go with "underperformed" before "overrated" Vlad + Bo + Berrios are going to cumulatively produce like 9 or 10 WAR less than projections / expected performance
  20. Bo Bichette has a 78 wRC+ against lefties with a 25% K rate you cannot tell me that Bo is mentally okay this year he has demons in his head man 2020 + 2021 he had a 151 wRC+ against LHP with a 19% K rate
  21. vs. LHP .325 wOBA 113 wRC+ 10th best offense vs. RHP .329 wOBA 116 wRC+ 3rd best offense I don't know. It defies reason, but the offense underperforming in certain periods has NOTHING to do with behind right handed heavy because they are underperforming against f***ing lefties! So when people say the offense struggles because there is no LHB in the middle of it, you can just tell them that is definitely not true. Add a LHB in the middle and this backwards team performance just gets even worse lol. I would be interested in reading or hearing a coaches perspective on why the bats struggle against so many lefties that they should be destroying. Like, Reid f***ing Detmers has no business pitching in Toronto without giving up at least five runs.
  22. We will set the matchups late tonight or tomorrow morning so don't panic if you look early in the AM and things don't look right 1 vs 8 2 vs 7 3 vs 6 4 vs 5 Remember, 4 division winners make the playoffs + 4 wild card teams But matchups for those 8 teams are just based on total points so it's not like division winners get seeds 1 to 4. We could have a division winner as seed 8 this year even. First two rounds are one week one. The finals is two weeks long this year!!! I think finalists will have 5 adds for each calendar week of the finals! I think!
