  1. Slim chance in 2023. Almost none. You would have to make some aggressive trades for veterans
  2. Thanks peterkim sign verlander and somehow degrom get ohtani and jose ramirez trade bichette trade jansen trade gurriel jr
  3. So $16.66 per month looks like the TSN thing is the same. $33.32 per month for live sports... seems fine. I currently pay $72 for a Bell cable package. Literally don't do anything with it other than watch sports + the odd time watch CBC or whatever
  4. How much would Sportsnet Now + the equivalent TSN service be for a full year? I am thinking about cutting cable entirely because all I watch is sports and streaming services.

Not excusing the Adams thing specifically but just making a general comment. This also has to do with the Draymond Green punch I guess. The industry expects these players to perform, fight, bleed like literal warriors for our entertainment... it's got to be hard on a human level to just turn that switch off when the game is over. And sometimes your body gets conditioned or hard-wired to react certain ways. Like with Adams, how many times a game, or week, does he have an impulse push reaction scaled to a 230 lb opponent when someone is suddenly in his proximity?
  6. It’s temporary I think they switch the default view back when the playoffs are over
  7. Like, imagine if they move the seats in this much. Look how much foul territory goes away.
  8. Yeah it's surprising. It must be that every other stadium other than the Coliseum have the seats on the infield a bit closer to home. This is the best image I could find of them all http://thumbnails.visually.netdna-cdn.com/baseballs-many-physical-dimensions_53344ca673751.png It's the fact that the Rogers Centre has this circular cutout on the infield. Nowhere else has that other than the Coliseum!

It's amazing really. Looking to the rivals, since 1970 the Habs have had Dryden, Roy, Price, and even Jose Theodore who at his peak was at least better than any goalie Toronto has found or made in 51+ years. Imagine if the Maple Leafs had a goalie like those guys for 5 to 10 years.

I glanced at CuJo's season to season save % and nothing popped but maybe some of those years with Toronto ranked well if league offense was high. But even if he WAS rock solid it would only have been for a 2 year period. I honestly think you have to go allllllllllllllll the way back to a 42 year old Jacques Plante in 1970-71 to find the last Leafs goalie who was truly elite. 51 years and counting. All of the decent ones between then and now have been like top 10 guys at best.
  11. Sure but the Cards would not do that They'd definitely ask for Moreno and maybe be willing to do Kirk. Gross.

The Leafs goaltending history is hilarious. Seriously, who are the last truly good goalies they have even had? Do you have to go back to the 70s, 60s? Please don't say CuJo or Potvin lmao.
  13. I think dimensions are undecided but it sounds like they do not want it to play much differently. It will of course be less uniform, so some random bounces. And the total amount of foul territory will decrease once the infield part is done. That might have a big impact but who knows. "The club’s analytics department has spent time modelling how the changes could impact the results of balls in play, searching for an alignment that will not dramatically alter Rogers Centre’s competitive nature. But it is expected that the unique angling and heights of the new outfield fences could lead to some tricky bounces for outfielders to assess. An interesting wrinkle is that Rogers Centre’s foul territory — currently the second-largest in MLB — will be decreased to bring fans closer to gameplay during subsequent phases of the renovation. That won’t only have a positive impact on fan experience — it will likely have a positive impact on runs scored. Fewer foul balls will result in outs, extending plate appearances and giving hitters extra chances to put pitches in play."
  14. You would have to use long career splits or regressed splits if these are 2022 splits they don't mean much Toronto would certainly use regressed platoon splits
  15. Two lefties up after Santana. Even though Santana is better against RHP those next two dudes are way worse. So unless Santana hits a dinger in theory it's a solid plan to prevent a big inning. Even if Mayza loses Santana the next two are great matchups for him. And if he gets Santana then he can start the next inning which is nice. I don't think this is a bad way to manage in an 8-1 game if we assume that Gausman was at his limit. The other options are kind of.... be super aggressive and bring Romano in. Or bring in Pop, Cimber, or Phelps who are all hard to get an XBH off of.
  16. I definitely see the argument for Mayza. It's not hard to see what they were thinking.

Amazing opening to the season. Leafs blow. Murray looked like garbage.
  18. Padres are hard to like though. Just a motley crew of acquisitions you don't even think of in a Padres uniform when their names are first mentioned.
  19. Guardians for sure. Underdog + Quantrill and Naylor + nerds need a big WS victory
  20. Not really. Did Romano get a single 2 inning save opportunity all year? I know he had some 1+ but not sure about 2 full innings. Did we ever see Merrifield removed in a corner for a defensive upgrade? Let alone, Tapia? But yes the pitch count for Gausman was the same as where they tended to pull him all year.
  21. I really think I would explore trades but Plan A would just be Moreno coming into 2023 as a competent super-sub who can play 2B/3B/LF/RF/1B/C
  22. I see this the opposite way just because Moreno is a traditional archetype and Kirk is very much not. We've seen high-end catching prospects traded a lot, historically. There is a lot of demand for them. It's a liquid asset. 5'6" bowling ball position players are not as liquid
  23. jim i'm sorry but your 35th percentile peen is decidedly small
