Everyone who manages to make the highest level of the game is sort of a star.
Really weird tbh to want specific highest level players to make less money. Like, what happened to you as a child that makes you want to see guys like Santiago Espinal or Chris Boucher not get paid?
The uber stars can elevate their income with endorsements and s*** anyway.
Why does that matter?
They just have smaller rosters. Team payrolls in the top half of the NBA are similar to top half of MLB. Believe MLB average payroll is slightly higher, actually.
nah, he would get in on merit
the 3000 strikeouts alone = an impressive enough milestone to overcome some of the other shortcomings like never winning a Cy
3 years for Verlander is insane. Anyone his age is year-to-year. If he has another big injury it's game over.
Based on his talent it's reasonable to risk a second year on him but risking a third at such a high AAV - that's a hail mary move most teams should never make.
I high payroll team that can absorb $40M in dead money for one or two years... sure. Go for it.
Well Semien was a good shortstop who was not getting high end offers because the market was thick. And teams don’t like to guarantee 30 year old shortstops the position forever.
I just mean one of these guys could sign a pillow deal and play second base. Or a longer term 2B deal like Story.
Toronto basically has 2B open. Three internal options but all of them could be dealt or used as bench players.
I don’t think trading Bo is something they want to think about doing
Perez and Gray just aren’t good enough to be the #3 and #2 starters. The Rangers have a lot of work to do still. Need two more bats, some RP upgrades, better SP depth, and then pray for health. Maybe they can get in there
Yeah I don’t know when they come out
There is The Bat and The Bat X
The Bat X is kind of the most forward thinking… incorporates new types of data. It’s experimental basically.
He's basically a replacement level arm and he's owed $37M
In theory you could get Alek Thomas + Bumgarner for literally nothing going to other way, which I would of course do, but I doubt Toronto has the budget to eat $23M in 2023 payroll and that's not a realistic trade idea.
