  1. That's what I'm saying, Schneider is giving me big Matt Stairs vibes Just hunts specific pitches and tries to launch dingers Also, dad traits
  2. Matt Stairs came up as an infielder, remember I think a minor league shortstop then 3B????
  3. That really remains to be seen, lol
  4. Eovaldi is cooked. I think his velo is way down.
  5. *surprise* many baseball players are losers
  6. Even that one where he almost got thrown out... it's like the ball had extreme top spin, lmao. How the f*** did that not go out, in Coors Field? Vlad would be great at tennis. He's basically a Williams sister.
  7. Gabriel Moreno is who we thought they thought we thought he thought he was, after all!
  8. Yeah I don't think it's "bad luck" either to be honest, but the question of how permanent it is remains. It has not been a career long problem. It seems like his swing is mechanically busted right now for some reason. Anything inside is a groundball. Like when he tries to pull a fastball, he is almost incapable of getting it in the air.
  9. I would support a sneaky buy low Vlad extension this offseason tbh I dunno if I'd do 10 years but what if he was willing to sign a 5 or 6 year deal? The final 2 arb years plus a few tack on years. From his perspective that would be a big pay day + he'd still have a chance to hit FA at 30 or whatever and still get a mega deal, if he turns back into an elite hitter.
  10. Maybe Toronto can trade Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for Vladimir Guerrero Jr.? The fans in Toronto are turning on him because of his low WAR and his frustrating track record. But he has a .383 xwOBA vs just a .339 wOBA. Every other year for him those numbers were congruent, like when he was bad his xwOBA was bad. So I dunno what is happening this year but if we zoom out it's probably just bad luck. Could be a sick buy low.
  11. I don't think they would consider that Maybe you could get a replacement level young guy like Andrew Vaughn but what is the point
  12. It's a little bit more than a "down year" Go find a specific trade target that would clearly crack the Jays 2024 lineup
  13. omg the bp pitcher f***ed him up massive
  14. no point in trading him you'd get nothing that would crack the starting lineup anyway and Toronto needs the SP depth
  15. Anecdotally, Garcia misses in the middle of the plate too much and that is why he gets hit. But there is a huge element of luck in even that. Pitchers will get away with meatballs at some rate. How often you get "punished" can be pretty random. If he was very "hittable" you would expect it to show up in his barrel rate against, or hard contact rate against, or something like that. But it doesn't. Instead it looks like his LD% against, BABIP against, and HR/FB against are just.... unluckily high. You can also tell helpful anecdotes. Like this: his stuff looks really good most of the time and his command is solid. And then some of the more modern stats back up the helpful anecdotes. His Stuff+ is #3 of the current RP corps (a hair above Mayza) and his Pitching+ is #4. Honestly, it does just seem like he has been getting unlucky in specific spots this year. 4.11 ERA 3.61 xERA 3.44 FIP (#5 reliever on team if you count Cabrera's Blue Jays sample) 3.15 xFIP (#2 reliever on team) lmao congrats to John Schneider and the team for not falling victim to troublesome anecdotal reasoning.
  16. Or he is having a tantrum. Yeah that's possible.
  17. Really bizarre. They either wanted to give him an extended mental break from pitching or they have him going through a fitness regimen. You want to tell him to just forget pitching this year and hit the stairmaster all September, but they kind of do need to build him up just in case there is a run of injuries and they need him to start a game or two.
  18. lots of singles, lmao
  19. It's been suggested. Not for 2024 but if he does this again...
  20. Yeah he's like Cody Bellinger. Dodgers let him go to save $18M in projected final arb. Cubs have him equal money and are ecstatic.
  21. Ah yes. Love Garcia and Jackson in a tight game. Amazing.
  22. Where the f*** do you get whiny and arrogant from? Immature, sure. Dumb, maybe.
  23. I think we hope for a Houston sweep here. Texas is the most vulnerable team
  24. I dunno man. It's tough to pitch there but it must be even more difficult to show up there one random time and try to do it I mean the Jays played like s***. Sloppy defense, bad situational hitting, poor pitching all around. But guys like Ryu and Kikuchi just get a full mulligan from me
