  1. Machado was also a boring return. Baltimore had to squeeze every f***ing drop out of Dean Kremer with their new player development gurus to make that worth it.
  2. Oh yeah Betts would definitely count That was a "boring" return even if the math says it was worth it for Boston (the math would be wrong, but whatever). Verdugo has settled in as a really boring, fringe-average player. Wong is just a backup C and Jeter Downs was/is nothing. Not a great comp for San Diego's side. It shows that people were not willing to part with an elite prospect for even Mookie Betts at final arb cost. And that was Mookie with a good chance of extension signing - Soto probably goes to FA.
  3. We have Rhys Hoskins already and he can play 2B. His name is Davis Schneider.
  4. Who are the last truly elite players to be traded with only one year of "expensive" control remaining? I think Machado was a deadline deal but I guess you could use that as a comparison.
  5. Texas is a cringe org with a lame ballpark and a soulless team Arizona has some of the worst uniforms in sports and they have a lamer team name than most preteen travel teams
  6. He's like Colby Rasmus but good
  7. go back to 154 games but let everyone do steroids again
  8. Vlad has value still, because teams view players in a probabilistic way Vlad may be coming off a 1 WAR season and his mean projection may be down to 2-3 WAR or so, but teams are still going to bake in the possibility that he can find his demonstrated ceiling again. His age also makes it more probable that he could do that than a player approaching or over 30.

omg just saw the video of the Adam Johnson incident it looks like murder the other guy kicks him in the neck on purpose
  10. He's definitely been much more active in the last year or so Getting more indignant and opinionated with age Also probably giving up on ever getting laid again so he is just posting through it 20 hours a day
  11. connorp left when we added some rules to the message board and tried to limit political posting he came back like a year later, probably because he missed me and I am one of his best friends

They need to make helmets with built in kevlar neck guard sheathing, that tucks under the shoulder pads or even clips to them and ties down. Think this

Playing pro hockey with your neck and face exposed is insane. The visors they wear in the NHL do basically nothing too.
  14. Some of these things he is doing might be valid exercises for mobility or "explosiveness" or whatever but yeah it mostly looks like eyewash from rookie personal trainers who don't understand what they are doing.
  15. What a game 1!
  16. What a swing. Sewald didn't even miss by much, maybe three inches.
  17. The possible ten off days for the team that gets a bye would be problematic
  18. Running and cardio can be bad for weight loss though. It works in the short term but then your metabolism adjusts. Also, cardio causes hunger and cravings! Best thing is traditional strength training and diet adjustments. Gain muscle and it increases your metabolism. Better long term strategy. Although, with Manoah the length of the offseason kind of puts him in a crunch. If he wants to cut a significant amount in 5 months. But it would still be completely reasonable for him to just adjust calories, do basic strength training + pitcher specific movement training, and potentially lose like, 30 pounds or so before spring. I dunno.
  19. Yeah I doubt it's an effort thing. For him I would guess that he just thought it was "good" for him as a pitcher to be big. Then that got out of hand.
  20. well yeah, he just needs to lose weight so it's like 100% diet for that goal anyway I guess my point is more... the fact that he is just working out with his brother is kind of disappointing. I am very cynical about Alek Manoah. A lot of these exercises look like eyewash. Going to work out with your family member is like, the easiest path possible. Makes me kind of thing he's not serious about any kind of body transformation. I looked at the instagram for their gym and all of the pics/videos are 12 year olds.
  21. If you look at college draftees only, you sort of do a) some of the best athletes don't go to college you get these 1B and 2B hitters with big sample sizes of crushing the ball and the offense really slides them up
  22. I'm not expressing my personal opinion I'm expressing how I think Shapiro would see it Personally, I'm probably canning Atkins if 2024 looks like 2023 The only way they lose in the WC but he would stick on, for me, would be if the team just LOOKS better and more competitive all year long. Like, if they win 98 games and end up as WC1 and then lose because of dumb playoff luck, whatever. Like the Rays this year.
  23. So he's being trained by his brother and his wife. Erik Manoah Jr. and Natalie Orantes. Looks like Erik started this business with Natalie in 2020, while still trying on his MiLB career. Erik is a minor league pitcher who has never been able to throw strikes, so I'm not sure he has any merit as a personal trainer aside from his pitching experience and being an athlete. Natalie is a Registered Dietician, Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist, and Certified Personal Trainer from what I can see. So she has some merits. Maybe, just maybe, they can save him. But he does not appear to be at any kind of advanced or progressive baseball training compound. Like, he's doing instragram exercises at a mom and pop gym.
