  1. No I mean what is your test What are you measuring him against What are you saying he is NOT???
  2. What a great win. Big for the morale!
  3. Chapman was a much more impressive defender before coming to Toronto. Now he's very good, but not "elite" anymore. Like, his UZR is #4 in the league which is great but it's a full win worse than his prime.
  4. Ah yes brilliant idea with Merrifield and Espinal in there Good contact boys
  5. Merrifield should be on the pine with Espinal. Just throw your best bats out there. Horwitz 1B, Biggio in a corner, Schneider 2B. for f***s sake gentlemen it's not that complicated Merrifield and Espinal will go 0-8 with no hard contact, I bet my balls
  6. There is literally no argument for playing Espinal over Schneider. Like, Schneider would need a broken leg for that to make sense. Schneide vs "power" pitchers: .308/.400/.808 (small sample size! lul) Espinal vs "power" pitchers: .262/.329/.367
  7. This is disgusting. Why the f*** is Espinal in there against Glasnow? KK not 100%!?
  8. I'm thinking low cost veteran. They have Schneider and Biggio and Orelvis/Barger/Clement/Palmegiani. I am thinking they line up with some veteran at 3B and Schneider at 2B, with Biggio being a possible platoon partner for both if they don't hit. If Biggio performs he could steal a starting role at either spot. Then Orelvis/Barger/Palmegiani as MiLB infield depth. I'd prefer if Espinal is just thought of as a backup SS and nothing more... These guys are ugly options but as a one year stop gap on the cheap, maybe they would be fine (2023 WAR): Brian Anderson (0.5), Giovanny Urshela (0.4), Evan Longoria (0), Donaldson (0.2), Tim Anderson (-0.4), IKF (0.3), Amed Rosario (0.2), Brandon Crawford (0.6), Donovan Solano (1.1) I mean there is nothing in free agency so the only other option is a trade. There are few trade options though, if you think realistic and only focus on minor moves like 2025 free agents. Brandon Drury? He's a good f***ing target tbh.
  9. Not enough people know about Wyatt Langford and Junior Caminero. They could very well be the #2 and #3 prospects in baseball right now.
  10. Rays promote Junior Caminero lmao This kid is a monster. He is going to destroy the Jays in these 6 games if he gets any playing time.
  11. The most Shatkins era Jays thing would definitely involve missing the playoffs. It probably looks like this: - Losing streak right now, hope is lost - Mini win streak into final day, hope is back - Lose on final day of season to end up tied with SEA/TEX and miss the playoffs on a tie breaker - In final game, Yimi Garcia gives up 2 runs in the 6th inning - In final game, Vlad bounces into a clutch double play - In final game, some extremely mediocre RHP absolutely carves the Jays and makes them look like a AAA team
  12. I don't see the allure of Ryu. I think you just thank him for his service and consider him as one of the many free agent SP. Maybe you end up with him, but probably not.
  13. Tiedemann is a huge name for the AFL. Don't normally see SP prospects ranked as highly as him head out there. But he needs innings.
  14. It only mildly changes it. It makes Pham's comment seem measured rather than flippant. I think the defense of the veterans is just lip service though. Like the context there seems to spare Lindor, but then at the end of it that is contradicted by Lindor himself thanking Pham for "teaching him how to work hard"!!! So was he working hard enough or not!? Alonso and Vogelbach definitely just eat wonderbread and play pool
  15. There is this perception that people don't like Tommy Pham because Joc Pederson doesn't like him and he got stabbed at the strippers that one time. But I have heard multiple people say on podcasts that they love Tommy Pham. Blake Snell almost cried when the Rays traded him away. I think he is one of those guys that you just love or hate. The media and casual fans who can't do 10 pushups like to villainize these guys but in reality most athletes love passionate teammates like this. I mean, you love them until they are on the other side of the field.
  16. Could be: Gerrit Cole Tyler Glasnow Zack Littell Taj Bradley Michael King Gerrit Cole Carlos Rodon Zack Littell Taj Bradley Aaron Civale
  17. Have to offer it to Chapman. The free agent pile for 3B is scarce so he almost certainly turns it down. But even if he accepts it, that's fine too!
  18. Calvin Biggio
  19. Hello, Sheriff?
  20. Oh he's definitely elite. It's just that his aggregate defensive value this year is already in the elite territory, with his +13.2 UZR/150. He would get a positional adjustment bump. Something like +5 runs or half a win, vs. this season.
