  1. Stands to reason that the well-run teams who can win on lower or mid tier payrolls right now would benefit bigly from a cap/floor. The Rays, Guardians, etc.
  2. I am so against a salary cap. I love the payroll disparities in baseball and the drama involved. The narratives. To dynasties and empires.
  3. He really does not look like a contact hitter if you look at his NPB career as a whole Dunno what got into him in 2025 but there is obvious Yoshi Tsutsugo risk here One of the blogs I landed on mentioned Cody Ross as a swing / offensive profile comp?
  4. The takes on Okamoto are so divergent The scouts in certain stories on the signing are saying he's a 1B only in MLB. BA says he is maybe a decent 3B. There is even a scout in one story predicting that he will be a power over hit MLB player? He could be anything! .280/15 at 3B with good defense? .250/30 DH? lol
  5. Can't wait to see healthy Tony Taters turn to his normal form of 40 HR, below average but acceptable OF defense
  6. Tucker in the OF forces some sort of Barger/Santander time share Bo at 2B forces a Clement/Gimenez platoon of sorts Remarkably similar results I still think a trade happens at the end of the off-season
  7. Gimenez has negative trade value sure but he still projects for 2 wins while Straw projects for nothing Straw somehow produced in 2025 but did not display any projectable skills in doing so other than D. He *probably* has no trade value and is a DFA and hide in Buffalo candidate
  8. Yeah I don't think Toronto signs him if he's a fringe 3B
  9. Crazy f***ing off-season for Toronto and it's still not done What a time
  10. The timing of the international guys makes the MLB offseason so interesting. Like, ideally Toronto would wait until they know their big fish before potentially signing Okamoto. If Bo is the big fish and sliding in at 2B then the infield is crowded. But Okamoto's deadline is NOW so you need to decide on the little fish first.
  11. Also, the top hitters who signed got PAID. Schwarber and Alonso.
  12. Can't say yet Cease doesn't have any clean comparables this year. He's the top SP that was available by most relevant measurements. Top projected WAR, younger than Valdez by two years, best Stuff, best velo, best durability track record... His deal is more like a $27M or $26,5 AAV if you factor in the deferrals, which should be done Michael King for a $25m AAV, Merrill Kelly got $20m If Valdez and Suarez get a similar or higher AAV on shorter term deals, then Toronto's read of the market was just fine. And you need to really compare a guy like this to other years because you need top of the market comps. Last year Burnes, Snell, and Fried all got deals that were richer or comparable (Fried an extra year while being older; Burnes more AAV and guaranteed money; Snell more AAV).
  13. Senga got 5/$75m right? Imagine if he had an opt out after his 2023
  14. Similar to Murakami, the league must not think he's that great Astros To Sign Tatsuya Imai January 1st, 2026 at 11:10am CST • By AJ Eustace The Astros and Japanese right-hander Tatsuya Imai are in agreement on a free agent contract, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. It is a three-year contract with opt-outs after every year, per Jesse Rogers of ESPN. The deal maxes out at $63MM, per Chandler Rome of the Athletic. Heyman adds that Imai will receive an $18MM annual salary plus incentives that can bring that to $21MM if he reaches 80, 90, and 100 innings
  15. Eflin back to Baltimore for $10m Good signing for them. Projects okay despite the dumpster 2025.
  16. Somehow the Blue Jays continue to be the only team in baseball that reaches out to every single free agent to gauge their price
  17. If George Springer has another great year (130+ wRC+) what are you offering him? Is he going to be Nelson Cruz?
  18. Casas sucks and they are trying to dump Yoshida probably
  19. The Red Sox are so weird Trading for Willson Contreras. 34 year old 2 WAR projection 1B making $18m. Cool?
  20. We will see Adames has a weak hit tool and has big pumpkin risk Teams pay for hitters
