I don't understand how a GM can be not good enough for the hot seat in Calgary but somehow a fit in Toronto??? seems wild to me
  2. Washed up Ace vs washed up Ace
  3. If he's available most teams in baseball would consider acquiring and extending Imagine him in Detroit or Pittsburgh for example. Peak Vlad would be a good fit for those young lineups. Houston would be all over him as well.
  4. Casas is not out for the year, he is swinging a bat now
  5. Boston probably likes Casas too much. They would have other positions to fill before 1B/DH
  6. Yeah velo matters, whiffs matter Can definitely say (sort of in hindsight) they the Jays were deploying a risky pen since several key relievers did not have velo. Mayza, Swanson, Richards
  7. Nobody thought the pen was an issue before the season. Nobody thought pen depth was a weakness. That's just baseball.
  8. Springer and Kirk had amazing springs lmao
  9. It is so absurd He has been obviously and objectively cooked since day one I know it's a human and he has feelings and s*** but fuuuuuuck any waiver wire arm is better. Could have just traded cash for some random DFAd lefty and got so much more. Good chance he is gone tomorrow? I guess
  10. Horrible reaction time and throw by Vlad Horrible decision by Horwitz to not flip to second and go for a standard double play
  11. I'm not even saying perfect anything Just trade some GB for FB Maybe just some specific trick like a D swing he puts on low sliders or something
  12. still the same issue for Vlad, just needs more flyballs less groundballs he has been excellent in May+June (167 and 150 wRC+) but not because he is hitting more flyballs. looks like just better swing decisions - K rate is much lower. his wOBA this year is .237 on groundballs and .494 on flyballs. career split is similar. the current version of Vlad is .280/.360/.450 or something like that if he traded some groundballs for flyballs he could very realistically be .260/.340/.540 in my opinion. that is WAY more production and probably 15% better or so by wRC+ that seems like too big of a bump in SLG but I think it's realistic. lots of those flyballs are going to go over the wall! There is no reason he can't sustain a massive ISO it's just absurd that he doesn't have a .200+ ISO all the f***ing time, it makes me want to cry
  13. But nobody is even doing that I feel like the opposite is true, anyway. People felt mad about the trade at the time and continue to let that negative emotion dictate how they see and define Varsho and Moreno.
  14. I don't see any issues with this tactic generally speaking If there is actual interference by the runner they can just call that no need for new rules or more of MLB "stepping in"
  15. Schneider wRC+ Mar/Apr = 134 May = 136 June = 58 I could see giving him a day or two off to collect his thoughts but he should still be a starter, full-stop. He's been the #1 Blue Jay position player since his 2023 debut. WAR since August 4 2023 (Schneider debut) DS = 3.1 Varsho = 3.0 Vlad = 2.0 IKF = 1.8 (lol) Springer = 1.8 DJ = 1.8 (only 237 PA) Kirk = 1.5 Biggio = 1.2 (lol) Clement = 0.9 (only 187 PA) KK = 0.7 Bo = 0.7 (woooooooooofffffffffffffffffffff) Turner = 0.2 Chapman = 0.0 (thanks for nothing ya bum) Merrifield = -0.6 omfg why did they play this guy at all last year If you set the playing time cutoff lower then Belt and Horwitz slide in there with 1.1 and 1.0 WAR in like 28 games each.
  16. Who gives a s*** about Gabriel Moreno anymore? He barely has more WAR on the board right now through 61 games than Kirk has provided in 43 games. The best evidence of what he was worth at the time of the trade is the trade itself. Evidently, the industry did not think he was actually an elite prospect. We can see why - he doesn't actually have an amazing tool package. He's a nice little catcher to have while he is cheap and he has a chance to develop into an above average player. He can put the bat on the ball and he is a solid defender. But it has been very disappointing to see the negative baserunning right away and the consistently poor ISO and barrel rates. Honestly, he's shockingly similar to the player Kirk has declined into. That's kind of funny isn't it. Varsho is just a flat-out better baseball player at the moment despite his obvious flaws at the dish. And he has a more exciting tool package, obviously. y'all boring and dumb
  17. IKF three hbp lol Maybe an MLB record? Has to be
  18. Short flight same timezone they can sleep on the plane I doubt this matters much
  19. Berrios just eviscerated Judge and Soto tonight hahaha
  20. Somehow the Blue Jays are having the saddest season in baseball White Sox and Angels and Rockies fans are having a better time I bet
  21. Vlad's body actually looks fine this year I don't think his body has a whole lot to do with it anymore Just a skill issue at this point
  22. Or some type of opt-out deal.
