  1. right I remember that now I think last time Jr. talked about this he said that Sr. told him they treated him differently than Bo because Jr. turned out "too soft and gay"
  2. who knows, man maybe it's true, maybe it's embellished. if Dante Bichette was physically fighting "coaches, other coaches, fans, and many umpires" then it wouldn't be a secret, Dante Bichette Jr. was probably on scout radars from little league, his dad's conduct would be well known?
  3. better to have his salary taken like this than stash him in AAA they have guys like Barger and Martinez down there already, and Horwitz up here playing 2B don't even need the mediocre depth Biggio would represent
  4. His career totals and WAR track record remain decent for the money. He just happens to suck NOW which is kind of all that matters. I will say it for the 100th time, he can't hit anymore. It's so f***ing obvious. And he's past the top of his aging curve so it's probably over. I mean maybe he sticks around as a bench player for a while but he needs to change some things to make that viable because with a swiss cheese swing, no power, and middling defensive utility there is not much to like there. It's a weird profile. He can take a walk and run well, and not embarrass himself at LF/RF/2B/1B/3B so that works but he's also a utility player who can't play CF or SS which is not ideal and teams like pinch hitters with pop.
  5. Fair to wonder, though, why they thought Turner was The One. 39 years old coming off 1.1 fWAR in 626 PA, kind of disgusting to throw $13M at that Like, racism aside, why was the 36 year old Tommy Pham who can sort of play the outfield and run still and just had a 1.9 fWAR truncated season not preferable, for less money? Only mentioning Pham because jaysblue and I were banging the table for him all offseason. Pham, Pham, Pham, Pham, Pham.
  6. Big Fungus pays for them
  7. If you wanted the Blue Jays to shop in the Teoscar bucket, they could have realistically ended up with Soler instead which would have been a disaster. Tier 1 - Ohtani (elite) Tier 2 - Bellinger, Chapman (flawed but good) Tier 3 - Teoscar, Soler, maybe Candelario (combo of age, offensive upside, or position make them more competitive) Tier 4 - Gurriel, Hoskins, Garver (slightly younger, may take 2+ years) Tier 5 - JDM, Turner, Pederson, maybe KK (one year geezers) Atkins is a cheapo. He never wanted to f*** around in tiers 2-4 at all. Can't really blame him when you look at the FA landscape as a whole.
  8. wow they got someone who might actually help at some point he just seems like a boring arm with middle relief upside right now https://scout.texasleaguers.com/players/680755 fastball, curveball, slider/cutter velo is fringe for a reliever but the K rate is there so the curveball must be good he has always had reverse splits, I wonder why
  9. But it's even harder to appreciate and understand today with the information overload Now many MLB players can understand kinesiology and biomechanics and physics? One of the major communication issues MLB teams have is the conveyance of information. You need to somehow turn particle physics into a grade 4 subject in order for half of the team to even partially understand and buy in. I mean so... yeah sort of. Even O'Hearn evidently didn't understand his own body until he got to Baltimore
  10. So when Ted Williams tells Don Mattingly that Don doesn't understand what he's doing, who's right? Some players get it, some don't. Guys like Donaldson and Bautista know what their bodies are doing but many probably don't or think they do but are wrong
  11. Nathaniel Pearson, wow
  12. What the f*** are those swings Vlad!!!???? Can he not see????
  13. What if Stephen Horvat is just.... a really good hitter? This year's babe? Completely different profile of course
  14. Literally kill me
  15. Looked like he f***ed up the footwork tbh
  16. Holy f*** Angel Hernandez has been reincarnated
  17. always love to re read this one Ted said "WILLIAMS: As did everyone else who ever played the game. When you pull the ball, you have a tendency to hit more ground balls. You tend to hit the ball on the ground because the toughest thing is to pull the ball and get it in the air. That's the premium, par excellence hit." hahahaha wow
  18. That's the excuse that popped up two years later
  19. We have to remember that the guy who is probably running the entire offense, Donnie Baseball, is one of the biggest losers in baseball history. Stopped hitting for power inexplicably at age 27. Never made the playoffs until 1995, his last year. Decided to take a year off from baseball, only to watch his team win without him in 1996. What kind of role model is that? They hire a guy who forgot how to hit homers in his prime, and the Blue Jays immediately forget how to hit for power. Duhhhhhhhhhhhhh I wonder what could be happening!!!! I don't know! It's a mystery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Forbidden word, I should ban you I think you meant "he needs to swing with more intent"
  21. Yeah they kind of have a 2 strike approach from the first pitch Lots of them do at least I don't understand why Bo, Vlad sometimes, Kirk, IKF. Springer is sort of just lost and has no idea which end of the bat to even hold. Kiermaier is just overmatched half the time. Varsho, Schneider, and Jansen will take proper adult hacks. I guess Vlad sometimes does but he is really dumb with it.
  22. They are f***ing losers man I don't know how else to describe it They win sometimes but they win like losers
  23. They go up there with this dumb as f***, almost defensive mindset Almost none of these hitters are thinking about crushing meatballs, ever Vlad is trying to hit liners and groundballs up the middle for some genetic reason Bo is trying to be Derek f***ing Jeter and slash every fastball to right field I want to cry and die
  24. Okay, Sheriff Fudge
  25. Starlyn Caba Aiden Miller George Klassen Mick Abel's numbers are dogshit this year. Wonder what is going on. Roboumps? In any event he can't be the primary piece in a big trade. I doubt they would move Painter but maybe for Luis Robert. I don't see the appeal in Crawford, 40 raw power. Not super exciting. Decent prospect but... Samuel Aldegheri
