    I mean there is no incentive in trying in game 2, if you win game 1. They would just burn good players/relievers and waste energy. And the end result would just be letting a more rested and still dangerous team into the bracket on the other side. Like, if I won game 1 and secured a spot I would just rest everybody in game 2 and use my long reliever for the first 5 innings.

    Yeah they should split on purpose If one of them sweeps tomorrow, they have to play the rested DBacks in the WC series. Big disadvantage!

    They are definitely on the precipice though. The Blue Jays cultivate a relatively good fan base when they win for a bit, but it can be fleeting. Lose a few seasons in a row and oooof. Per game: 2016, 42k (1st in the AL) 2017, 40k 2018, 29k 2019, 22k (8th in the AL)

    Fine, I'll do it He turned his already good splitter into a nuke. 165 Stuff+ since August 23rd. It was 132 before then. This made his overall Stuff+ go up of course. It has been 113 since August 23rd. It was 100 before then. Fastball slightly better (see below). 85 Stuff+ since August 23rd. 78 Stuff+ fastball before then. His velo is up. 94.4mph on the FB since August 23rd. It was 93.7mph before then. He improved his command. 108 Location+ since August 23rd. It was 94 before then. (this is an insane jump, like going from minus minus command to being George Kirby) The splitter is the most interesting thing. It has been good his whole career and oscillated between 128 and 110 stuff+ but this stretch has been nuts. Pitch mix until Aug 22nd 49.2% - 31.1% - 19.7% --- FB/Split/SL Pitch mix after Aug 22nd 52.6% - 28.9% - 18.4% (so, not much different... was kind of expecting to see less FB more Split) Better in every way.     Except for the pitching model which likes him 120 stuff+ with 104 location+ (good and good) 3.27 ERA (good) 4.40 FIP and xFIP (bad) 21.8% K rate (bad) SwStr% 10.9% (bad) He's a mystery, wrapped up in an enigma, smothered in questions.

    Hard to argue with +7 BsR Duran does have a reputation for having horrible baseball instincts, he was a god awful defender up until this season so I bet he does make (or used to make) a lot of stupid baserunning errors

    Hard to complain about the tank if they end up with 5th overall Realistically there was no chance of being worse than MIA, COL, LAA WSH could have played better and jumped Toronto but, oh well Having a worse record than PIT would be awesome. CHW and OAK being ineligible for a top 9 pick is fantastic Pittsburgh goes Brewers, Yankees in their final 6 games Toronto goes Red Sox, Marlins in their final 5 so we probably win 3 games... Texas goes Oakland, LAA in their final 6... Need Pitt to overperform or Toronto to just blow it against the Marlins

    LMAO go find one non-sarcastic post that calls it a dunk realistically everyone here either hated it or thought (thinks) it was fair nothing has really changed either other than things that have nothing to do with the players (if the Jays could go back in time they would not do the trade, simply because they didn't win in 2023 or 2024 and now they would prefer Moreno and his remaining years of control)
