Agreed, and I doubt it.
It seems pretty likely to me that Chiarelli would have been fully capable of taking the missed playoffs as a wakeup call and altering his own process in a way that would please ownership and get them back there soon. They were easily a top 8 team in the conference this season based on talent, probably top 5.
I don't follow hockey close enough to know anything about their AGMs or whether or not they might have someone qualified already in house.
