  1. Fangraphs dot com slash Clay Buchholz great PD stats "savvy owners would pounce"
  2. Kemp v Choo, an epic battle of who can get to replacement level
  3. They take multiple seasons to = true talent. That's not to say that measurements from 1 season aren't decent measures of what actually happened. Think of batting average in a 1 or 2 month sample. A .300 hitter can hit .200 in April. He actually hit .200 that month, but it doesn't make him a .200 hitter. Dee Gordon is hitting like .450 and he's probably a .280 hitter true talent. With 1 year of defensive metrics I would say that they would be a decent measurement of what actually happened, but not a great measurement of true talent. With 1 month of defensive metrics they probably aren't either thing. At the team level they might be a decent measurement but not yet at the individual player level.
  4. There's so much noise in those numbers right now that it doesn't even make sense to look for a reason. You can just say "noise". By the next UZR update he could very well be +3, and on pace for his typical +10 season.
  5. Between Carlos Correa and Matt Olson, Boxy could have two top 10 bats for the next decade
  6. Not sure why you love Frias so much. He's all fastballs and looks like a reliever to me. Today is the first time I'm seeing him
  7. I don't think so. The timing for him to refuse the assignment and ask for his release comes after waivers.
  8. Owens' FIP in AAA is worse than any Red Sox starter's. The only SP that's a complete turd there is Masterson. Miley has been pitching poorly, Buchholz and Kelly have been pitching well but getting unlucky, Porcello has been pitching decently. The team defense has already cost them about 1 win according to UZR. Blame Hanley for most of that (lazy).
  9. * exposed as a FA who can sign a minor league deal with anyone exposure on waivers is a bit different, of course
  10. What's the logic behind the Reds keeping Mesoraco on their active roster when he can't even play? I don't get it.
  11. I don't see where we were ignoring that fact. Also, he may have technically been exposed but if the decision for him to sign back was made before he even elected FA then functionally he may have never been exposed.
  12. Yeah if Valencia twists his ankle and has to sit for 2-3 days anyway, I don't really see the point in not just putting him on the DL for 15 so you can get immediate reinforcements.
  13. For any player this is unsure about whether they should accept the assignment or choose free agency, a team can just say "look, elect FA and sign back with us and you may be back up sooner". The player already has the right to choose FA so it doesn't expose them to other teams any more than they were already exposed. Basically, the rules should say that if a player elects FA and signs back with same team then the waiting period still applies.
  14. This is still true. There's no way that Colabello hits well enough, in a sustainable sample size, to make up for his statuesque LF defense. Some of the worst we've seen in the last several years.
  15. Holy f***, another setback for Ryu. What the hell is wrong with him?
  16. Leonys Martin is the CF version of Elvis Andrus, for fantasy. Funny that you and Texas own both of them.
  17. Does Bubba Starling still have a chance? .904 OPS between A+ and AA this year. 22 years old.
  18. Can't wait for Dinger to package Lorenzen with, like, Desmond Jennings for a top 30 player.
  19. you're right.
  20. Kang's slashline is surprisingly adequate! And Mercer has a .480 OPS. Kang should be playing every day. Santana, however, is a piece of garbage. I believe he has zero walks so far, which is hilarious.
  21. lmao the Nationals are saying that Strasburg has an "alignment issue" under his shoulder and they are sending him to see a chiropractor. Going to go out on a limb here and say that when your pitcher's shoulder is sore, you probably should send them for an MRI, not to a witch doctor.
