  1. Pretty easy to test. "Top 100" prospects get traded all the time - just look at expected WAR vs top 100 position for all prospects and traded prospects (or traded vs. not traded). I'm with North. I bet the traded prospects underperform a bit, on average. It's not always the case but lots of the time when a team trades someone, it's because they aren't in love with them as much as the field is.
  2. All he does is swing wood at a projectile and run around really fast on grass. He plays cave man in a funny uniform for money. I don't see how the impending doom of his father would affect that so significantly. Now, trying to sit around in a cubicle all day staring at Windows98 while your father's life ticks down to nothing - that would be tough. Mad at God for giving your loved one stage four dick cancer? Swing the stick harder, in anger. Sports are practically an outlet for such feelings. Almora should be BETTER because his dad is dying.
  3. Most people's dads are dying from cancer, we just don't know it yet. Not really a great excuse for being an overrated putz.
  4. Estrada is probably more talented, sure, but peripherals and projections think it's pretty close. Teams like Oakland and Tampa Bay make a habit out of selling guys like Estrada (or just letting them walk), and bringing in guys like Doubront (currently, Erasmo Ramirez).
  5. I dunno, some of those older fax machines...
  6. they are way closer in talent than you think
  7. I'm pretty sure you're right, and it's something like 5 or 6 years of service time.
  8. wow you f***ing suck Gustavo Chacin retired like 5 years ago
  9. For example, Angrioter just took a 12 year old IFA from this summer's class top 10 in the BBDL draft.
  10. Dude had an OPS over 1.100 in his first year of pro ball, which included some time as a 21 year old in AA. Just can't hit big league pitching, I guess.
  11. Singer officially not signing. It really doesn't matter. When you get these protected picks back next year, you might as well go for higher upside / tougher signs. I don't mind the draft strategy. Beede --> Stroman Bickford --> Pentecost Singer --> ??? They've also managed to sign guys like Norris and Smoral, who were in the same mold as Singer. When the only potential cost is a lost year, just use the compensation pick and draft a college dude.
  12. Most certainly. Like every time a Boston sports team trades someone, and then the world finds out that they were either soft or a clubhouse cancer or put mayonnaise on their french fries.
  13. I don't even remember any rumours about Bickford having a bad physical
  14. longer does not = better. ask yer mum
  15. Beede didn't - he just wanted more money. You're wrong, so, umm.. there's that.
  16. super hard to have a long and productive career behind the dish! s***, Brian McCann is the 32nd best C in history. Russell Martin is 34th! They are both better ranked as catchers than Delgado and Giambi rank as 1B (and they still have plenty of time to add WAR). Really when you compare careers with WAR, you sort of have to give catchers another positional adjustment... maybe. arguably.
  17. No, this is just the Jays MO. They draft highly and fail to sign a high school RHP every year, lol.
  18. Nobody thinks he was. In his prime though, he wasn't much different than Mike Trout. Definitely not overrated...
  19. Holy f***! Glasnow has a 2.4 BB/9 and a 0.88 whip. Better than Urias?
  20. Let me know when your balls drop and I'll fight you IRL
  21. There is no Ying, without Yang - Boxcar8
