He used to be able to turn on pitches inside, but you're right that he can't at all anymore. Must be some combination of age + mechanics + injury toll.

He got screwed on the one side of the plate but the plot still doesn't inspire confidence. Look at all of those pitches just hung up and inside to righties. That's a huge issue for him.

Agreed, and I doubt it. It seems pretty likely to me that Chiarelli would have been fully capable of taking the missed playoffs as a wakeup call and altering his own process in a way that would please ownership and get them back there soon. They were easily a top 8 team in the conference this season based on talent, probably top 5. I don't follow hockey close enough to know anything about their AGMs or whether or not they might have someone qualified already in house.
