  1. If they get money to go after an Ace, I'd spend it on a big Donaldson extension instead.
  2. Clearly Moore is getting this Sept showcase so that they can try to trade him in the offseason. IMO
  3. A player that is on the DL on Aug 31 and still on the DL at the end of the season can be replaced by any player that was in the organization on Aug 31. Teams use this loophole every year. Izturis and Saunders are both on the 60 and done for the year. The Jays can put anyone that was in the organization on Aug 31 on their playoff roster, if they want.
  4. Pompey is eligible and he'll be on the roster, 100%.
  5. Add two more years @ 25M and maybe it opens a conversation.
  6. If the Blue Jays try to extend Donaldson this offseason and his camp's #1 priority is money, then it would be hard to argue that he's not worth something similar to the mega-deals given to Cano and Votto. Votto got 10/$225M starting in his age 30 season. Cano got 10/$240 starting in his age 31 season. It would be a tricky proposition to try to get Donaldson to sign anything that doesn't involve Toronto tacking 7 guaranteed years after his remaining 3 arb years (which would obviously be replaced by guaranteed money). Of course, not all players and not all negotiators are created equal. Donaldson might be in love with Toronto at this point and eager to finish his career here (or not). You can also do creative things with options in order to redistribute risk and exposure, such as guarantee less money overall but give him an opt out, etc.
  7. Everybody in the playoffs has a great roster, and is a gentleman (except jaysblue). The eight of us should all go for beers, and invite none of the others!
  8. The annoying thing here is that I told Boxy to pick up Pollock out of pity, because my roster at that point was full and I felt so bad for his team. And now my likely R1 matchup has Pollock, who ballooned into what he is now. I almost told KK to think about adding a couple of guys last week, for the sake of league parity, but then I remembered Pollock. Nevar again.
  9. Single game playoff tickets are being withheld for the Sept 24th sale to the general public. The team has the right to "dynamically price" single game playoff tickets, but who knows what they will actually list for. They've already set a benchmark by displaying single game ticket prices at the same level as the strips cost per game.
  10. Hits are the one thing that is readily available on the wire
  11. FYI league winner last year only had 2 goalies. Don't go crazy for a bunch of backups and lose roster space. That's what a rebuilding team with no designs on competing should do.
  12. I don't think Dinger will ever rebuild. He'll just ride SaleBum for the next decade and continue to trade for older bats to keep his offense afloat.
  13. your team sux
  14. Shows just how fluky the playoffs are. All you can really do is get there, and make sure your roster is set up well. The rest is up to Jesus Montero
  15. I don't really see what your angle would be. Are you thinking of tanking for 6th so that you can play the most poorly named team in the league, THB? That would be pretty dicey with Havok close enough to bump you to 7th, giving you a very bad R1 matchup. It's looking like it will be you and I, old friend. 1. Dinger - 183 wins 2. Silvergun - 181.5 wins 3. Jaysblue - 167 wins 4. me - 164.5 wins 5. min - 161 wins 6. featherD - 160 wins 7. Havok - 156.5 wins 8. North - 145.5 wins
  16. Yeah but assuming health, as I said, by the time the playoffs roll around Stroman will have pitched in the majors this year.
  17. Estrada's fastball has the least vertical drop of all starters this season. This means it has a s*** ton of backspin. It probably annoys a lot of hitters as he pitches up in the zone and they swing under 89mph fastballs that they are used to squaring up. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=pit&lg=all&qual=y&type=12&season=2015&month=0&season1=2015&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0
  18. NB that an Estrada start in the playoffs likely also means a start for Navarro, who has become his personal fatty caddy. No thanks! If everyone is healthy and fresh enough, you'd have to think they go with a 4-man of Price, Stro, Buehrle, Dickey (hopefully with Stroman lined up 2nd!).
  19. Downvote. Baseball is played outside. Bring a hat, wear sunscreen, bring water.
  20. + guys like A-Rod, Miggy, and Davis are still hanging on this year. There is also a slew of viable young guys like Lawrie, Kang, Duffy, Moose, Franco. I'd probably take Machado just because he might get SS eligibility.
  21. The 3B crop turned over so quickly. Gone are the days of Miggy, Longo, Beltre, Sandoval, Aramis, Zimmerman, and Wright. Here is the era of Donaldson, Machado, Bryant, Frazier, Arenado, Seager, and Carp.
  22. Wow, Joey Votto's numbers have really exploded. Could be a career year. It's funny how much attention Miggy gets as the league's best hitter when Votto has a better career wRC+.
