  1. The 0-4 stat is a tad disingenuous, as Gausman pitched well in every start. We just didn’t score those games.
  2. “Alex Bregman's contract with the Cubs will include $70M deferred, brining the present-day value down to ~31M/yr” Reported. Makes it a bit more palatable
  3. That’s what the Okamoto signing was for. They know Tucker isn’t signing til March
  4. Ortiz is an obvious one that everyone turns a blind eye to
  5. Yep. Bonds and Arod aren’t in the hall because they were dickheads to media.
  6. We also can’t say for certain that half the guys in the hall weren’t taking some form of banned PED when they were playing. Bonds also never failed an MLB drug test and was never suspended for PED use. Moving the goalposts after he retired is BS
  7. Yeah, its a miracle we made it to the WS at all, let alone coming that close. Team was running on fumes, with Bo and Santander both injured, Springer banged up, starting rotation of Gausman+rookie+old man+injured Bieber, and IKF/Straw getting a bit too much play time. Without beastmode Vlad and Mr.Clutch, we probably don’t get there
  8. Yeah obviously don’t want a black hole, but I think you’d be ok with any of those guys as a stopgap for a year or 2 until someone is developed/becomes available.
  9. I feel like its not too difficult to find an above-average/elite CF to just stick in the bottom of the lineup. Someone like Straw for example, just younger and on league min. Varsho provides power but lacks the stolen base threat you can normally get in a CF. Find a speedy guy and stick him in CF
  10. Basically what transpired with Vlad. Really wonder what his market would’ve looked like right now. Surely not over $400million MAX?
  11. Jays owners are CHEEEEEP Pay the man!!! *jk this aint facebook
  12. Teams remembered they don’t need to throw him any strikes and he’ll swing anyways
  13. Yes but this is a sport, and competitive balance is a thing.
  14. This is a good way to put it. But at the end of the day, Ohtani still gets his 700m hence the 700m contract. Its debatable whether you think the entire contract should be counted towards the luxury tax, as 99% of contracts in the sport are. I think it should be. We will see if it is a point of contention in the next CBA negotiations.
  15. How many dollars does he receive in his bank account
  16. That's my number 4 starter with a big personality 😍
  17. Answer me one thing, how much money is Ohtani actually receiving from the Dodgers by the time his contract is over and paid?
  18. I do think its partly mental with him. He got hit pretty hard in his very first playoff start, and was just never the same. Basically destroyed his confidence and never built it back up.
  19. Yup. Im just preparing myself for the Paul Skenes for Spencer Jones + scraps trade that we know is coming in the next year or so.
  20. Yes, feels like we are being used as a bargaining chip again. If any of these guys (Bo, Bregman, Tucker, Bellinger) wanted to play here, they would have signed by now. I wouldn’t be shocked if the Jays currently have the highest offer tabled for all of those guys. Maybe they are waiting for the WBC and hoping someone important on a competitor gets injured?
  21. Either way, i think both guys are a longshot now with Okamoto in the fold. Would expect the front office to go harder after Bellinger/Tucker
