This trade starts making more sense when you think about the SS situation past 2025. Plus if/when Bo gets injured, we have a legit everyday option. Would make even more sense if they decided to shift Bo to 2nd If Gimenez can rebound even a bit with the bat, he’s basically Ha Seong Kim which is a guy everyone wanted us to sign. But younger. Will be interesting to see what kind of deal Kim gets and how it compares to Gimenez’ remaining contract

We don't. Just like the 2023 pen flipped from being great to terrible, it can flip back the other way next year. You add 1-2 good arms, you rely on guys that were good last year, and you have to hope/expect 2 or 3 guys flip the script and pitch better. Can also add at the deadline after we see where things are at.

It could come down to him wanting to be "the guy" vs being the side piece to Judge. Plus he'll be an absolute legend if he can help the Mets win, vs being just another footnote in the Yankees story.

Orioles aren’t exactly hurting for offense, plus they have several young blossoming start they need to think about extending. Overpaying Santander could mean letting one of Adley/Gunnar/Holliday walk. For the Jays, overpaying Santander doesn’t change much since the team probably needs a rebuild very soon. Payroll will be lean so we can afford Santa.
