  1. Right, i think a lot of people are forgetting literal hall of fame talents like Pujols and Miggy turned into absolute albatross contracts shortly after hitting age 30. And Vlad isn’t even on their level if you look at the first handful of seasons each guy had. Vlad will almost certainly age extremely poorly starting around age 30, which means you’re getting roughly 5-7 good years of a potential 15 year deal.
  2. Yeah the Springer and Santander contracts are not comparable. Santander is not being paid like a superstar, totally fair deal.
  3. A lot of things in the world would be better with a system like this. Unfortunately, the rich only care about getting richer and the union reps are made up of some of the top paid guys in the sport. They will never settle for a system that sees the top paid guys have a cap, even if it means more for the rookies/younger guys/journeymen
  4. You’re assuming Vlad has a brain
  5. If he gets deferrals to make the luxury hit closer to 25 mil per year i’d be extremely happy. Even though I dont think signing him long-term is the right move.
  6. I’ll believe it when it happens, but I like what im hearing
  7. Yes, he should be playing RF with Springer switching to LF.
  8. He shouldn’t. Gotta be Bo/Vlad/Santander in the top 4, but we don’t exactly have a clear leadoff guy or someone else to slot in at the top. Maybe Gimenez or Wagner in the 1/2 spot possibly? Springer should probably be plugged into the 5th spot to start the year. Ideally we add 1 more bat that can slot in at the top.
  9. Isn’t the same true for Vlad?? Except people want to give him 300 million for some reason
  10. Nice to finally have a HR hitter in the cleanup spot again. Switch hitter is a bonus. I think Santander will bring a lot to the clubhouse too. Underrated aspect Lets just hope we can get a couple good seasons before he falls off a cliff
  11. My point was that 2009-2014 was not more exciting than 2020-2024. Sure last year was bad, but overall this is the longest stretch of the team being competitive since the WS days.
  12. I dont know, just doesn’t make sense to me lol. Not sure why you waste your time lol.
  13. Why are you even here then?? Why waste your time whining about a team you don’t even like watching lol
  14. He said he barely watched any hours. So yeah not much of a fan
  15. And sorry, if you didn’t actually watch a single game last year its hard to call yourself a “fan” of the team. Lets be honest here. You don’t actually give a s***.
  16. You didn’t watch the first 4-5 AA years then I guess? Because those years were also quite s***. This team has been an exciting/playoff contender for the last while minus 2024.
  17. I wonder if Ross is contemplating offing himself at this point or if he’s actually angry and smashing things in his office. Would love to be a fly on the wall in the Jays front office on Monday morning
  18. Look lets not pretend this doesn’t have everything to do with the fact Shohei chose to sign with the Dodgers. They’re a smart team and FO sure, but this has everything to do with their status as a brand in one of the most famous cities on earth. LA. Hollywood. Every foreigner dreams of making it big in LA (or NY). Shohei chose the Dodgers and it has caused a domino effect of every Japanese player wanting to be his teammate.
  19. Just expect every player coming over from Japan to sign with the Dodgers at this point, and be pleasantly surprised if we nab one.
  20. Sorry but you guys are morons for getting your hopes up and thinking he was ever even considering a team other than the Dodgers.
  21. Im going to guess the decision will come through sometime later tonight, similar to the Ohtani thing. Its 8am right now in Japan, so im guessing we will hear a confirmation that he has signed with the Dodgers sometime around 8pm tonight (10am Japan time)
