  1. I'd be very comfortable signing Manny for 10 years, $330M. I think almost every team should want him for that price.
  2. Josh Donaldson and Jose Bautista were both cocky *******s. I actually don't give a s*** if Manny Machado hustles EVER if he can still provide 6 WAR per season. Manny had multiple knee problems. Maybe not hustling keeps him healthier, for all we know. I would rather have 6 WAR Manny 95% of a season than 7 WAR Manny for 40% of a season.
  3. FTFY. Flexibility is a good thing. Good players are a good thing.
  4. It actually sounds truly awful and tedious to me.
  5. Gurriel is basically a case of throwing s*** against the wall and hoping it sticks. Possible outcomes: 1) He is an above average (100+ wRC+) hitter who can play a passable shortstop, he becomes an interesting trade chip or super utility guy. 2) He is a slightly below league average hitter (80-95 wRC+) who can't really play shortstop well, but is still a serviceable backup infielder. This is essentially how we all value him now, and represents a value status quo. 3) He is exposed as a hacker with serious holes in both his offence and defence. Becomes a bench player for us while Bichette transitions into a starter in 2020. I don't really see the harm in rolling with Gurriel at SS in 2019. Either his value improves or he turns out to be exactly what we think he is. In either case, the team isn't tracking to be competitive until 2020 at the earliest, if not 2021.
  6. You should stop trying to make this a thing. It's not funny, it hasn't caught on, and it's getting so cringey.
  7. You're overthinking it. This FO is banking on Bo Bichette as the franchise shortstop and is fine with stopgap options for 2019.
  8. This all seems based on an assumption that 2019 is relevant. This season is a write-off. Tulo and Gurriel are by no means excellent options, but Bichette isn’t far off and next season is looking more and more like the bottom-out year of a rebuild. I don’t like this trade from a value perspective but I also don’t think Diaz is anyone’s idea of a core player. Houston has clearly acquired him to be a utility infielder and if any other team valued him more highly than that, they would have been the high bidder.
  9. s*** man, that’s scary. Glad you’re ok. Jansen already had an ablation some years back. I think it’s more of the same, although it’s safe to say he won’t be traveling with the team for any more trips to Denver.
  10. Riffing about fat asses is my comfort zone.
  11. Adam Duvall SsssssSSSUUUUUUUXXXXXxxxxx x Xx.
  12. Isn’t Great American Bandbox even smaller and more HR prone than RC?
  13. Boxy, we get it. People hurt your feelings after your Correa trade and now you’re on a crusade to prove that he isn’t an elite dynasty asset. Maybe stop caring so much what other people think. We all make mistakes, it’s okay.
  14. Did you completely miss the part where he sucked before that for years and then his shoulder blew up?
  15. Love this trade for P2F. Best case scenario, Tatis is Correa. Seems unlikely. The rest of the pieces are meh.
  16. Yu got that right, my good man.
  17. I would trade one of EE or Luke Voit.
  18. Gotta love it when a smart person says something outside the box and the context of his thought experiment is totally disregarded in the haste to distance an organization from any potential controversy. Better fire him asap!
  19. Seriously though that’s some Final Destination s***.
  20. Blame Boxy for being so white that he didn’t even realize Carlos Montoyo is latino. Sickening levels of white privilege.
  21. Do you mean a Top 50 prospect who is a hitter? Or a Top 50 hitting prospect?
  22. Well, it wouldn't be an off-season without a Dominican prospect dying in a car crash. --- Reds minor league pitcher Jairo Capellan died in a car crash in the Dominican Republic early Saturday. Fellow minor leaguers Raul Hernandez and Emilio Garcia were also injured in the crash; Hernandez is in critical condition, and Garcia in stable condition, both in Dominican hospitals. "We received this terrible news and send our condolences and support to the families, friends and teammates of Jairo, Raul and Emilio," Reds Chief Executive Officer Bob Castellini said in a news release. "Our Dominican operations are an integral part of the Reds organization, and this tragedy affects us all. We will remain closely involved to help everyone through this difficult time." All three players are 19 years old. Our condolences go out to the Capellan family and the Reds organization
  23. I tuned in late. Is LeBron hurt?
  24. I’d be very tempted to just go ahead and start Pearson in New Hampshire next season.
