  1. I don't think it's a waste at all, Heyward could easily pop 30 HR playing half his games at that short porch, plus the Yankees OF defense would be super elite.
  2. I'd set the O/U at 10 years, $250M. I could see the Yankees and Cubs breaking their piggy banks for him.
  3. I can't help but feel there's more offensive ceiling there, too. He had a .210 ISO as a 23 year old, so I think there is latent 30 HR power there, which would obviously play up in our park.
  4. Rightly so, but probably not as much as Price.
  5. Oh god, that would be a dream signing. RF Heyward 3B Donaldson 1B Bautista DH Encarnacion SS Tulowitzki C Martin 2B Travis CF Pillar LF Revere Beastly.
  6. Probably a real-life playoff hangover.
  7. Absolutely, the haters love to overlook these deals. All we hear about is the Dickey trade, which to be objective is the only terrible trade AA has ever made. The Marlins trade wasn't a win, but it wasn't a disaster either.
  8. Have we even had an offseason trade yet?
  9. I referring mostly to Bautista and Encarnacion, with Colabello being a tertiary consideration. So yes, we have two, at least.
  10. Joey Votto would be a pretty poor use of disposable salary considering our roster as currently constructed. We already have a glut of above average hitters who should be limited to 1B/DH next year.
  11. I think that's kinda BS, to be honest. The only elite chips we cashed were Norris (who doesn't look special) and Hoffman. We have plenty of young talent under team control, namely Stroman, Osuna, Sanchez, Pompey, Travis and Pillar. It's one thing to trade prospects for a current run, but it's not like we mortgaged the entire future by any means. In fact I'd argue we have more above-replacement level young talent on league min contracts than most teams, in addition to our mid-prime core. This is not a team like the Phillies, completely bereft of young, controllable talent and on the precipice of major decline and overwhelming salary commitment.
  12. No comments on that blockbuster? Pretty much a challenge trade, Malkin for Perry.
  13. BTS isn't a Jays fan, so he'd like to see the franchise fail.
  14. Why? AA is going to win Exec of the Year, and rightly so. I want to see him follow this through to completion, especially if given a bit more budget.
  15. Can't fathom how some people are so quick to run out the guy who just traded for the best player-season in franchise history and brought us to the brink of the World Series. Bringing back AA is a slam dunk, especially since we won't have to compete with big-money teams for his services.
  16. Mutual interest in re-signing Estrada.
  17. Does anybody have any idea what we'll be refunded? I'm assuming it will be two games (Wildcard, 4th home game of ALCS), since the initial charge assumed a wildcard game plus home field advantage throughout. However, since the games had different face values, but the payments were broken into three equal charges, I have no idea how to calculate what I'll actually get back.
  18. I meant it didn't take long for a vintage Grant argument to break out with the old-timers.
  19. Well that didn't take long.
  20. If it were up to me, I'd bump Revere to the 9 hole and give Pillar a shot to leadoff tonight. He's be stinging the ball all month.
  21. It would be pretty cool if Russell Martin actually did something tonight. He's been invisible all October, except for that time he nearly blew our season on a bad throwback.
  22. Do yourself a big favour and stop caring what Harold Reynolds thinks. The guy is a certifiable idiot.
  23. Nah. This is Price's game to win or lose. He's in there for 100 pitches no matter what.
  24. You guys, I have a really good feeling about tonight. And regardless of what happens today and tomorrow, we were at least the 3rd last team standing and made it to within two games of the World Series, and that's seriously f***ing cool.
