  1. Vasquez is terrible, so I doubt it. Swihart had a .350 wOBA in the 2nd half, pretty damn good for a rookie catcher who got thrown into the deep end.
  2. Can't tell if serious or sarcasm. He was actually really nails down the stretch. I don't think his K-rate is representitive of his true talent level, so by the same token I'm not going to live and die by his 2015 xFIP. When you watch him pitch, he looks like a pretty solid dude. Dickey should merit serious consideration for my final spot, if for no other reason than I need SP depth. Sadly, Koji went from must-keep to almost-definitely-going-to-cut overnight with the Kimbrel trade.
  3. C - Cervelli, or no catcher 1B - Cabrera 2B - Cano 3B - Valencia SS - Reyes CF - Ellsbury OF - Bautista OF - Braun DH - Ortiz BN - Pujols SP1 - Sale SP2 - Bum SP3 - Kazmir SP4 - Jaime SP5 - Rodon RP - Familia RP - Watson RP - Street RP - O'Day 20th man options: Koji, Gattis, Dickey, Cody Anderson, Kelvin Herrera Problem areas: C, 3B, SP depth Should still make the playoffs quite comfortably, I imagine. I may cut Cervelli to keep another pitcher and just roll with Swihart next year.
  4. So you're trading 4 guys you were going to cut anyway and an SP4 for an ace?
  5. He failed a drug test that was administered before the steroid rules were introduced, and was never suspended. It's a tricky situation. I think his career numbers and championship rings do merit HOF consideration though, definitely. Anybody in the 500 club should probably be in the HOF.
  6. No types of pitchers grow on trees.
  7. And this despite the fact that the shift was basically invented for him.
  8. Such an incredible hitter. How the hell does someone average 35 HR and a .370 wOBA in the age 37-39 seasons? Dude could probably get another 2 year deal after 2016 if he wanted.
  9. You really do have a very nice farm. It will be interesting to see if you can hit on one of your shortstop prospects. I'd guess Rodgers, probably.
  10. Isn't he already hurt? He had elbow problems in early September and never returned. I smell TJS in the very near future.
  11. Agreed. If I were a middle of the road team, I'd stock up on probable cuts like Romo and Uehara and then immediately trade them once the season starts for a profit. You can get a 2nd round MiLB pick for good relievers as soon as we're past the cut date.
  12. No, but Familia was a good holds guy with great stuff and a lot younger than Romo. I have the same problem with Koji now as you do with Romo, he'll probably end up in the waiver draft also unless he gets traded.
  13. Jeurys Familia didn't get any return last winter, so good luck with Romo. Only competitors would want him and they all have 20+ keepers already.
  14. Hey now! --- Report: Marlins not shopping Jose Fernandez http://www.rotoworld.com/images/headshots/MLB/6744.jpg Joe Frisaro of MLB.com hears from two "highly-placed sources" that the Marlins are not shopping Jose Fernandez nor is he being discussed to be shopped. Craig Mish of Sirius XM and 790 The Ticket in Miami reported earlier in the day Tuesday that there's "growing sentiment" around baseball and internally with the Marlins that Fernandez will be traded this winter. Frisaro hears otherwise, but there's always the chance that something could change. Marlins president David Samson recently said that Fernandez turned down a contract extension, which is no surprise given that Scott Boras is his agent. It's worth noting that the Marlins are feuding with Boras, not only about Fernandez's innings limit for 2016, but also their handling of Marcell Ozuna. It seems likely that Fernandez will be traded at some point, even if it isn't this winter. The 23-year-old is under team control through 2018.
  15. They each just played their first full season and Pillar doubled him in WAR. Also, Harold Reynolds agrees with you, so you should probably re-evaluate your entire life.
  16. I was just going to come post this. Derping pretty hard.
  17. I wanted Kimbrel, but not at that Price. I wonder if they'd trade us Koji...
  18. Super awkward. Wilner is right, but he doesn't know when to STFU.
  19. I want nothing to do with Latos... can't even imagine how much of a POS he must be for the Dodgers to DFA him after only 24 IP. There are definitely major character issues that we aren't privy to.
  20. Lackey is another guy I'd really like to pursue. He won't be dirt cheap, but you know the term will be short.
  21. And remember when he almost f***ed it all to hell? http://www.thestar.com/sports/baseball/2010/06/21/game_over_for_edwin_encarnacion_with_blue_jays.html He just HAD to make room on the roster for Jarrett Hauffpauir.
  22. When we're looking back in 5 years, it will be a damn shame if we can never capitalize on that (unless you consider making an ALCS some sort of crowning achievement).
