That's the other thing, there's a very real chance Gattis could re-gain C eligibility this year. And if that happens, he will have it for 2017 as well. It only takes 5 starts.

Guys, there's a very good chance Ortiz is going to be traded this weekend or possibly even today. I'm looking for one prospect who is in the Top 40-60 range, or two prospects in the 60-100 range.

I'd argue he's better than Jay Bruce, but they are similar players. Gattis has been better over the last two years and is projected to be better next year, while also having the better career wRC+.

Cano had 21 HR and a 116 wRC+, which is probably about what you would expect for his age, skillset, and home park. That's by no means a terrible middle of the order hitter. It's not Cano's fault that Jack Z gave him a completely myopic contract. Cano didn't get that staff fired, they got themselves fired for incompetently putting an uncompetitive team on the field for several years in a row.

True. I would consider moving Ortiz for one or preferably two such interesting prospects. I don't expect to get a Top 20 guy for him.
