True Lawrie saved Happ there but this is a team game and some times you need your team members to help with the wins. It would have been tough cuz Happ has been pitching nicely up to this point. Hopefully he comes back with a renewed vengeance.

I will say it was a difficult throw as Encarnacion was inside of 1B and the runner was between Tolleson and 2B. Tolleson did well to not only catch that pitch but to tag Rios in time. No bad play on either fielder in my opinion.

This may be true but once you are paying them to analyse and/or treat injuries then it would be foolish to not abide by their recommendations.

Part of the root cause of the bench problem is the pitching. Until that is addressed properly the musical chairs will continue with the short bench. I know it is very difficult at this time to fix the starting rotation properly (any team giving up starters will be looking at the best in your farm) however you cannot continually be maxing out the BP cuz sooner or later all their arms will fall apart and you will be saddled with an even bigger problem than what the Jays currently have on their hands. If you cannot be counted on to throw at least 6 innings by now but your stuff is still good then to the BP you need to go. BP has too many arms in it? Forget about trying to save assets and just weed out the dead-wood.

I believe the thinking was that it may have been minor and as such a couple days of rest would have been the cure however once you put someone on the DL you cannot recall them before that time. I may be wrong on the latter part though.

You are correct however you do not have to do any counting. Just click on "Regular Season Standings", change the year to 2013, click on the "Calendar" icon, choose a month/date and you will see their wins/losses at that point. Totally agree with this comment. The manager can, and does, make mistakes however he is not perfect. Sometimes he may make decisions based on a gut feeling (after all he is not really trying to fail) or he tries going with match-ups and it backfires. The same can be said for the players - they choose to swing (or not) at a pitch which, in hindsight, seems utterly baffling. Decisions sometimes need to be made under pressure and in the heat of the moment - sometimes it works and other times it does not. It's cringe-worthy when it fails, and hopefully it's not too often, but it all part of the game. Fans really need to understand this and not over-react at every single failure.

Sorry. To me, it sounded like you were ranting more than you were seeking to have a discussion so I disagree with this comment. There is a difference between forcefully stating your point of view and putting something forward to be discussed. Unless someone is an expert in a particular field and sharing valuable information with forum members then coming to a forum to be of use to the members somehow seems a bit misguided. If the objective is to learn then open the ears and keep the mouth closed unless seeking clarification. If it is to start a discussion then the opening thread content should be worded appropriately. In my opinion this thread came across more as an attack (rant/whine) rather than an attempt to put forward a scenario for discussion. Also, trying to live up to others is really, really tough so just be yourself. Really? Or could it be partly caused by the individuals who were called upon to do a job and failed miserably? What about the batters who had the opportunity earlier in the game to take a bigger lead and failed? Was that Gibbons fault as well or do they automatically get a free pass? I do not agree with all of Gibbons' decisions but no one is perfect. Streaks will certainly come to an end (even Bautista's on-base streak) so just ride the wave without coming across as being too reactionary. It's alright to find fault but to throw anyone under the bus in such a manner does not make sense cuz in this game failure is ever present. It is also true that there are some who make similar posts and are not raked for it but life is not fair, some are just more lucky than others. Where was the "blaming BP management" when this was taking place? Was the BP even involved in any of these games or were the starters perfect? This is just an observation (maybe even inaccurate) and not an attack on you. Message boards can be brutal on egos so unless a person learns to develop a thick skin they will be, figuratively speaking, prodded/poked, checked for tenderness/sensitivity, roasted and eaten alive. If you enjoy the environment (warm/cosy place) but find the heat to be too much just back away from the fire a bit where it is not singeing your skin to the extent where it causes discomfort. I do not believe this statement to be true but then again I do not have conclusive proof otherwise. It's just my gut feeling. Jumping in before anyone else does - tldr. Please forgive me as I was feeling a bit bored and just felt like contributing.

I didn't see it that way. He used 21 pitchers for 5 batters and walked the last one. He did not look sharp to me but that's just my opinion. It makes sense to pull him before it blows up.

Seems I misinterpreted the "they". "The fans don't have a say in final decisions... Sabean got cold feet" I guess I must have misunderstood the whole scenario surrounding Lincecum and that particular move cuz I was under the impression it was going to happen until there was an uproar by the fan base. Generally speaking fans do not have a say in final decisions but to say "never" is not correct. Situations (extreme) can come up whereby the backlash from fans can impact such a decision. If you cannot see what I am getting at then let's just give it a rest. The "drinking" comment arose from my misinterpretation of your comment which I already mentioned - one one hand it came across as if you were saying fans do not have any impact and in the next sentence it seems like you were saying the opposite. With respect to "Sterling and the Clippers" it was supposed to draw attention to a fan-base backlash and repercussions for doing nonsense (believing you can do nothing wrong with impunity).

Without rehashing my point which I believe you either missed or did not understand, in my opinion Anthopoulos left the offer window opened too long. Anthopoulos was playing the waiting out game. From my perspective he was trying to show he was not in a desperate situation and as such was not forceful enough with the other side as far as making a decision. Anthopoulos thought he had time on his side but Medlen's injury quickly change the landscape in a blink of an eye.

The same could be said of Anthopoulos being a bit more assertive (not giving them so much time to decide) and a little more open with the purse-strings (a few extra dollars/incentives) maybe Santana would have been a Jay. Since we are speculating let's also say that if Medlen was not injured maybe another NL team might have had a SP injury and Santana would have ended up there as well since that league seemed to be to his liking. What I was getting at was putting pressure on them as opopsed to just waiting on them to take as long as they wanted with a decision. The feet-dragging scenario opened up an outside opportunity that was not there originally. Not sure if I am getting the point across though.
