  1. Burnett was a fine signing that worked out on the whole. Not like you'd actually do anything past a paper-thin analysis.
  2. That's the case for relievers in general. Guys like Papelbon or Rivera are few and far between. Another thing, who cares if they flame out? Just replace with the next guy. Lidge started to suck, replaced by Madson, who, shocker, continued being good. Wilson had his trouble, replaced by Romo. Valverde > Benoit. Nathan > Capps > Perkins (failed starter.) Bottom line, investing in a closer is almost always a bad idea and an inefficient use of funds. Amaro Jr. paying Papelbon 10 million per season isn't proof of anything other than what is already obvious (he's a bad GM and stupid man.)
  3. Tigers have Benoit, who just had a great year. Previously, pretty good middle reliever. Before that, 54 utterly s***** starts. Always the same sequence. Detroit's problem is that their whole bullpen is bad, not that they don't have an adequate closer. Koji Uehara this year, taking over from whoever else was closing. Jim Johnson, decent middle reliever given a shot at the closer job, goes from 9 saves to 51. Joe Nathan, failed horribly as a starter with San Fran, has a good year in the bullpen as a middle reliever, tried out as closer in 2004 with the Twins where he racked up 44 saves. Mariano Rivera, came up as a starter in 1995, and blew chunks. Moved to the BP where he excelled for a year while Wetteland closed. Moved to closing in 1997 and the rest is history. Sergio Romo, really good reliever, eventually 8th inning guy, took over as a successful closer after the departure of Wilson. I feel like I shouldn't need to go on, but I probably do because it might go over your head.
  4. He led the team in winzzzz and then...failed as a starter. Is there a better, more sugarcoated way she'd like it put? Inadequate starter?
  5. What was Janssen before he was a closer? A good middle reliever. Practically any good reliever can be a good closer.
  6. I think we are picking who we think should win.
  7. Going to the ad-hominems a bit early, no? Do you think this makes you look smart?
  8. And then sit back and do smug interviews about his genius moves.
  9. Fernandez, Archer, Holy f*** those are some awful choices for NL MOY, Melvin, Kershaw, Scherzer, McCutchen, Trout
  10. omfg this thread was a good old ride down memory lane. Many lolz.
  11. "There move would many details to work out" Is it just me, or are these types of mistakes becoming increasingly more prevalent in mainstream journalism? The other day, CP24 misspelled "announcement" as "announcment" and it really grinds my gears.
  12. This Sosnick guy is more full of s*** than most agents. More than half the teams in baseball? Lmfao, get lost.
  13. You mean one of the best hitters in baseball would hit well in a hitter friendly park? I hadn't even thought of that. Very insightful.
  14. I just really hope Ellsbury ends up in Seattle so Ackley is either traded or moved back to second. Or he could just get shoved in a corner. That would suck.
  15. To think that at one point we could have simply traded Deck McGuire for him.
  16. I am loving these realistic AA ramblings. God does that guy ramble, though I guess he has to since he has no idea what he's doing.

  18. That chick is gross. I guess if all you care about are balloon tits she's fantastic. Also, Jenny Dell >> everyone imo.
  19. I'm sure it had SOMETHING to do with it, but you're right. Those were excellent acquisitions, very shrewd moves by Cherington (WITH 1 R.) I mean, the Jays had great chemistry at the start of the year and still lost lots of games. I still can't get over how Farrell kept using Gomes against righties. Ugh, what a stupid twat that guy is.
  20. Orioles had a better team this year and won fewer games. It's pretty obvious to everyone that last year was a historically lucky season. They happen.
  21. Think the 2013 Indians, Rays or Rangers would have liked 1 extra win?
  22. Is now REALLY the time? Can you allow us to lick the wounds for a day, at least? Relentless m*******.
