  1. He seems in between a traditional mindset and a modern one. Open minded at least, I'm sure he was a big fan of the Jays' usage of stats. I did kinda smh at him saying 25 abs was a big enough sample size.
  2. Wow, the playoffs are going just about exactly as I thought they would
  3. If you seriously ever watched Posada catch, he was really awful. I already said he was a great hitter, but my point was that your value from catcher doesn't have to be mostly on the defensive side. You don't need some elite defender in order to compete.
  4. Jorge Posada was just as bad, or even worse than JP defensively. He was a good hitter but the Yankees still won what, 4 or 5 WS with him behind the plate? Just saying, don't go overboard.
  5. While I believe 2B must be addressed, at this point C and 2B must both be addressed or this team is going nowhere. Arguing about which one is more important is completely pointless.
  6. Not if his name is Ryan Goins.
  7. Of all the things to complain about, we are picking out something as insignificant as bunting?
  8. The Jays would lose their second round pick and the Cardinals would get a pick in the compensation round after the first and prior to the second.
  9. Can you really not see through what Selig is doing? Honest question. Personally, A-Rod's always been one of my favourites but I do recognize that he's a massive douche and an egomaniac. None of that matters in terms of his play on the field (I have seen guys far more bush league than Rodriguez, like AJ Pierzynski) but I understand why it would matter now. Baseball is going to hang his head on the wall as a shining symbol of their victory over PEDs, and it has to be him because he is disliked by a lot of people, his team would support any suspension the league wants to dole out and he's previously admitted to using steroids. Perfect target. I don't care how disliked A-Rod is, this is wrong and he doesn't deserve it. He didn't kill anyone. He's a liar and he cheated, but so did tons of other guys.
  10. You guys shouldn't be down or angry. The best thing for this franchise is for AA to make as many stupid decisions as possible so that someone upstairs will bother to reevaluate the guy that they allow to spend their cash. A step in the right direction!!
  11. "Next spring training when we have our media training, you're going to see this as a perfect example of what not to do,” Maddon said. “That was my first thought when I heard about all this." Wow, they are going to correct a guy acting like a jackass on twitter? The Jays are so pathetic. They let JP go on and on all season long.
  12. 1. He's done some bush league things, but he rarely ever gets into it with the umpires. Even when policeman of baseball Ryan Dempster took 4 pitches to hit him, he said a few choice words and headed down to first. 2. *evidence. 3. That is irrelevant. Tons of people cheat on their spouses. Doesn't make it right for him to do so, but at least its not a unique behaviour. More to the point, who cares? He plays baseball. I don't care about his personal life, it's none of my (or your) business. 4. Sure, A-Rod is a massive narcissist. He's probably a bit of a huge dickhead. I don't see how that's relevant. 5. I remember before how you knocked all the posters who thought A-Rod's ban would never hold up in an arbitration hearing. Not so simple now, is it? This is his first offence, and frankly I don't even know if they have that since it really doesn't look like he's been on anything lately. At some point, guardian of morality, you should probably realize that you don't know as much as you think you do.
  13. You're surely aware that BTS came up with that trade idea in the first place, right? He started hating on it because board celebrity superstar NJH said it was ridiculous. BTS is dumn.
  14. People ripped you for thinking that Phillips is barely an upgrade on Goins, dumbass.
  15. Seems more like the Bellini type to me.
  16. You lying idiot, your quote is right f***ing here that you think Phillips is barely better than Goins. Are you kidding me? You even go on to say that you think he's even better then that tiny speck of a sample you extrapolated to a full season. My god, you are so obviously only a Jays fan. No concept of player value. If they play for the Jays, they are worth twice as much! For the record, I wouldn't do BTS' deal because selling low on two assets in the same trade is dumn. I'd be gunning for Dustin Ackley, who is currently playing any position that's vacant for the Mariners and Phillips is on the decline. Just me, though. Also, el-oh-f***ing-el that you think Goins can put up a 1.5 WAR year with no problem. Thanks for continuing to derp about in various threads. You are the poster equivalent to a Magikarp.
  17. I guarantee, every single person here would juice if it meant an extra hundred million in their lifetime. Guarantee. All these people who cry about guys "cheating the game" as if it's a living entity make me sick. Easy to take a moral stand on the sidelines, but you sure were cheering for these guys in the 90s, even though the juicing was obvious.
  18. Get off your high horse, you self righteous asshat.
  19. Wow Lol, MLB has the NERVE to claim Rodriguez is the one circumventing the CBA? That is f***ing priceless. I hope A-Rod comes out on top by a landslide. As despicable as people might think he is, he's not even on the same level as Selig. He's going after A-Rod only to save his own face and use him as a symbol of his success over PEDs. Ridiculous. Let's all forget about the 90s because Alex Rodriguez!!!! Another thing, I'm even pretty sure Rodriguez isn't even juicing anymore. He's had a pretty clear decline for such an amazing player that we didn't really see from a lot of the greats that juiced.
  20. I feel like players who are generally underrated should take more interest in a stat that values them accurately. Pence is one of those guys, what an ignorant dumbass.
  21. Just checking, but does this make sense to anybody: "(Note: the reason his big September last year counted so much is the Tigers needed it, whereas they had things pretty well wrapped up by September this year even if they only wound up winning the division by a game.)" Jesus f***, this guy is a goddamn retard. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE AL Executive of the Year 1. Ben Cherington, Red Sox: Intentional or not, the strategy to bring in a multitude of mid-range contributors looks brilliant. Great job. 2. Billy Beane, A's: Do we hear Moneyball, the Sequel? 3. Chris Antonetti, Indians: The Ubaldo Jimenez trade looks worthwhile today, Scott Kazmir definitely was and all the Indians turned out better than most of us thought. The Tigers' Dave Dombrowski deserves mention every year. NL Executive of the Year 1. Neal Huntington, Pirates: Francisco Liriano, Jason Grilli Mark Melancon and Russell Martin were all winning winter moves. 2. Ned Colletti, Dodgers: They spent a lot, but it turns out they mostly spent well. In the end, even Juan Uribe paid dividends. 3. Frank Wren, Braves: The cheapie pickups (David Carpenter, Anthony Varvaro, Jordan Schafer, Evan Gattis among them) helped Atlanta roll to the title. The Cardinals' John Mozeliak did his usual fine job, as well. ARE YOU f***ING KIDDING ME NED COLLETTI OVER MOZELIAK OR...ANYBODY ELSE. NO FRIEDMAN THIS MAN IS PAID PAAAID TO WRITE ABOUT BASEBALL PAID!!!!!!!! PEOPLE READ HIM AND TAKE HIS OPINION SERIOUSLY!!! I'm off the deep end guys. This world doesn't make any sense anymore.
  22. Ummmmm, the article states that they view Ottawa as a way out of Erie, and I'm pretty sure Erie is Detroit's AA team.
  23. I hope he doesn't reproduce. That would be an egregious mistake.
  24. Unfortunately, I see Boston winning it all.
  25. Man, I do applaud him for somehow keeping up the illusion. Even if I didn't already have an idea of how anti-stat AA is, his trades totally tell the tale. He has absolutely no idea what makes a player valuable. All about athleticism and tools. Would a guy who understands stats put a guy with a biology degree at the head of his department? Would a guy like Jay Sartori not have a rudimentary understanding of linear weights? How much more evidence do people need to realize that AA is no better than Beeston?
