Who compared him to Bautista? I used Bautista as an example of someone who showed almost nothing early in his career that came along in his late 20's.

Rogers doesn't care. If Hayhurst brings eyeballs or ears.... They don't care.

Also, I reject that the notion that a player like Negrych cannot have value because he is in his late 20s. Bautista was almost NOTHING until his late 20s.

My question is. #1 prospect Jim Negrych is not on the 40 man roster. Does this mean he can be taken in the rule 5 draft?

That is clearly about rookies and doesn't cover prospects at all.

No way. As soon as you leave the majors for one year, you are then eligible to become a prospect again, sans Ramon Ortiz. It's in the new CBA, look it up.

I am actually pretty excited about the prospects in the Jays system. Jenkins has come up and pitched well. Negrych is on fire. I didn't even have Ramon Ortiz in my top 10 (#15) and he has come up and been good. I can't wait till D-Mac gets back up.

knowing the Yankees, they will probably sign David Purcey, who will come in and throw a complete game shut out.

None other then the Albert Pujols, heck, they would probably throw in Josh Hamilton.

I remember watching last years draft.... All the players had these ridiculous comps...like Barry Bonds, Pujols or Clemens... I forget who they were exactly, but all the comps were to these great MLB players. Then the Jays picked DJ Davis and his comp was Juan Pierre.

Thanks. But my point is this. People say ERA or WHIP or whatever is a terrible stat. My point is this..... You give me a rotation with the 5 best ERA guys in the league... you take the 5 worst and we will see what happens.

Why is it a bad stat? I just looked up this years leaders in WHIP..... and guess what.... The leaders are all very good pitchers. Darvish, Hernandez, Sale. In fact.... ERA, same thing.... I'm seeing no bad pitchers on the qualifying top 10 list in ERA.

The people that make fun of Wilner are the same people who call up and state we should trade Ricky Romero for Mike Trout... and then get laughed off the phone.
