  1. A little blurb in FG about the Jays 3B situation: Blue Jays • If the team doesn’t add a real third baseman (Falafel doesn’t count), Orelvis Martinez, Addison Barger, and Damiano Palmegiani will get consideration at third base. Martinez has always been a prospect who could slug the ball, but last year he made the necessary adjustments to refine his approach. His strikeout rate fell from 28.6 percent in 2022 to 23.4 percent in 2023. Martinez can be a 30-plus-home-run hitter for the Blue Jays but patience could be required since there is a lot of swing-and-miss potential in his game, too. As for a position, he might project long-term as a second baseman, but third base remains a bit of a puzzle for the Blue Jays, and it could be worth seeing if Martinez is a fit there. … Barger has one of the best throwing arms in the organization, so like Martinez, he should get a look at third base, in spring and potentially later on in the season, especially if Isiah Kiner-Falefa looks like he fits better as a utility bench player. … [Palmegiani’s] power bat has garnered him more attention as he’s risen through the system. On defence, the 24-year-old has primarily split his time playing first and third base. While there are question marks about his defence, he looked comfortable playing third base in 17 of his 22 games in the AFL. Palmegiani should get a look at third this spring and if he continues slugging like he has over the last year, he could earn himself an opportunity to test his bat in the majors.
  2. A frenchsoup target Aaron Hicks has signed with the Angels
  3. Internally Barger might be the only MLB ready guy that can handle 3B at least average. Barring a Chapman return, i see him playing the majority of 3B innings.
  4. I hate DH only guys. Also Barger would get a half season of AB before Horwitz.
  5. I don't consider KK a starting OF. He's great as a 4th OF. Will still get 400 PA in that role, with Springer getting plenty of DH days. Varsho CF, Bellinger RF, and Springer LF would be excellent.
  6. I don't think they are prepared to go all in and start trading the limited prospect capital they have. When at the end of the day it might not make a difference. As it stands the pitching is excellent, the bats as a whole average'ish with the potential to be quite good. Bellinger would push up the potential considerably. Speaking of Bellinger, report out today says Cubs are high on PCA, and they are committed to Busch at 1B, their interest in a Bellinger re-sign is lowered as a result. I suspect the Jays are holding out for a drop in Bellinger asking price.
  7. Yes, same issue as Hunter Greene. You would think MLB coaching / Driveline would address this with a few tweaks.
  8. I doubt Jays have any interest in Grichuk as a platoon bat against lefties. These types of players can be had at the deadline. So the better approach is to see if Vlad, Bo, Springer, Kirk meet projections, in which case there will be a different need for a deadline pickup.
  9. Colt Keith signs with Tiggers for 6 yrs, followed by club options
  10. Skenes goes #1 and then pipeline has him #1 of the new guys. Maybe he actually is a Strasburg level
  11. He will appear in 59 games
  12. Ethan Salas got an invite to the Padres major league spring training camp. He will be 17 yrs old.
  13. Yeah, Springer in LF is much much less of a defensive hit than Vlad at 1B
  14. Judge for No.1 pick, Langford?
  15. Entirely possible. It may be primarily between the Jays and Yanks for Bellinger.
  16. The rest of us do.
  17. I don't see the insanity. For his 21 year career from 1939 to 1960, with a 3 year absence during his peak to fight in WWII, Ted Williams has a .344/.482/.634 line. Now, THAT is insane.
  18. Dude, I've been a Jays fan since 1977 and a Leafs fan since 1965. I've weathered the anguish of decades of futility and still going strong.
  19. Here is what Atkins said, direct quote: "I don't think we'll add three players. I think, most likely, that it's closer to one." Also, 4 days before trading Moreno last year, he said he was comfortable going into the season with 3 catchers. In other words, your attempt to be definitive is both (1) wrong, and (2) a fool's errand.
  20. Actual quote from the GM wasn't as definite as that
  21. That's a f***ing good team lol

What's wild is how the London police have handled this.
  23. Shatkins is basically playing the supply glut market.
