  1. Except it is simply good business to maintain a clean and responsible corporate image. If Rogers management, in its wisdom, believes Bauer would be a net negative acquisition, so be it. It's not the stupid nonsense termed "virtue signalling", it's simply a business decision.
  2. Suspect the Jays are aiming higher than replacement level. But you are right, Moreno wouldn't be moved for pitching. Can totally see a trade for Castillo and Moustakas, with Orelvis headlining the package going the other way. A rotation of Berrios, Castillo, Gausman, Manoah, Ryu is pretty damn nice.
  3. A lot depends on whether other women come forward with similar allegations. Apparently at least one has. If the DA thinks a pattern of abuse/violence can be established, game on (not baseball).
  4. Exactly why my position in October was to tender Matz. Either a couple of million overpay and a rotation spot nailed down, or draft pick compensation. Now, it is quite possible the Jays will take on a bad contract, like Moustakas, in order to get the SP they need without giving up Moreno. Moustakas 38M vs. a 2M overpay for one year of Matz?
  5. Matz has slightly better projections than Kikuchi. 1/18.4 is a better deal for a team than 3/45, especially for a pitcher, so I'm not sure why you would take the Kikuchi deal. Agreed Kikuchi probably doesn't come close to 3/45 but who knows, there are a lot of teams chasing a few pitchers.
  6. Mets owner only wants to win and needs pitching so there's a fit. The length of the investigation is interesting though.

Leafs vs. some AHL team tonight
  8. Good choices, Reds and Marlins other potential trade partners. I believe Moustakas will return to being the hitter he was pre-2020, and Jays are well positioned to take on that contract if it means Castillo or Mahle at a prospect discount.
  9. I think they trade for an SP, along with usual depth sigings and ST invites
  10. Possibly the best prospect porn ever made. https://www.prospectslive.com/prospects-live/2021/12/29/2022-mlb-draft-top-300-prospects
  11. The "banged up" part is probably accurate, and he's probably not motivated at all to put in the prep work this winter. This is probably true for 90% of the 35+ year old ballplayers, other than those with HOF possibility.
  12. Jays don't need a slugging 3B. With the power already in the line-up, a .350+ OBP 3B is a good fit. If McNeil hits 15-20 bombs himself, even better. McNeil is a better lineup fit then a slugging K machine like Grichuk/Chapman. Although Chapman's D gives him the overall edge over McNeil.
  13. All Baltimore would need to do is sign Adley to a long term front loaded deal, and Grayson when the time comes. Salary floor met, still the same s***** team for a few years yet.
  14. You've traded Moreno for Ramirez. Terrible.
  15. Jays are good enough to reach playoffs now. And Moreno could well have a rookie of the year type season. But yes, pitching is the No. 1 need. Also, there is no way the Jays have tied "going all in" timing to the stadium upgrades. "Going all in" isn't in the Shatkins vocabulary anyway.
  16. There's no conflict here. You can acquire a pitcher making free agent dollars by trade. Remember, I don't know, Beuhrle?
  17. 3 years of control on McNeil. Take the money saved by not signing a Bryant and invest in PITCHING.
  18. Biggo and McNeil are above average. Before last season both were looked at as 3-4 WAR players. Biggio battled injuries, McNeil got babiped to some degree. McNeil makes the team better and fills the 3B void. Espinal is best deployed as a super utility off the bench.
  19. Possibly. Espinal will likely be worse, and Biggio better, than 2021. How it shakes out TBD but I wouldn't be surprised if a healthy Biggio is the better 3B option.
  20. Definitely worth a look. That guy is a talented hitter, defense is meh though, like most of the Mets.
  21. I'm sure they've done the homework.
  22. Hopefully one can be a manager or a player. Reaction time is not what it used to be. Slo-mo would work though.
  23. $300 / seat vs. $75 / seat is the idea here. The TV revenue is more or less fixed, Jays revenue increase opportunities are the park and merchandising, mainly. One time capital investments should in no way affect the player salary budget.
