That's exactly what I am saying, just use the end of the 6th season after the debut. No more manipulation of service time, or at least, a lot less - a player won't debut until the team is reasonably sure the player won't be going back to the minors. Will see the s***** ass vet get the call rather than the hotshot prospect with control issues or swing and miss concerns, more so than today.

Eh by the time Meza might be ready, Jansen would be a free agent (end of 2025). And Moreno, if the bat is as good as advertised, is full time 2B/3B/OF to reduce the wear and tear. I suspect you are just being glib, anyway.

That would be interesting, although I would expect that between say mid May and September few prospects would get called up, as no team would want a player to become a free agent mid season. Why not make it a player becomes eligible for free agency at the end of the 6th season after their debut, except when the debut is on September 1 or later, in which case it is the end of the 7th season after their debut. This would promote player's debut being on the 1st game of the season, which everyone wants, because who doesn't want to see how the heralded rookie does from the outset. It would also reduce the disincentive for mid-season callups that is a drawback of your idea.

Can chase upside in the league anytime. I'm in a similar league and last summer picked up Orelvis, Elly De La Cruz, and Roansy off the wire. I would have no plm at all trading Orelvis for an SP now, and pick up whoever breaks out similar to Orelvis next summer.

Witt Jr., Abrams, Luciano, Marte, Oneil Cruz are ahead of Volpe. Highly unlikely to be a FTJ scenario. A Jeter Downs trajectory is more likely than that.

It's really team context that matters most here. You would be getting two middle rotation types and a borderline elite (top 20ish) OF for a top 5 OF. Do the necessary two deletions from your team have value or potential value? Do you need help in pitching cats, and the loss in hitting cats can be absorbed? On the surface, Houck, McClanahan, and Teo for Tucker is in your favour (with Cavalli instead of Houck, I would say the deal is fair both sides), but again team context is what is important in these consolidation deals.

I've only seen positive reports on Moreno at 3B. He took grounders there daily in AFL and I have little doubt he is continuing to practice at the position all off season. He knows his best path to MLB is as a 3B/C.
