  1. I don't think it has to do with the leagues, but external factors
  2. Ugh, with Casas and J-Rod on the cusp, I would hate to blow up BBDL to something else. Maybe tweak it to add some nice differentiation.
  3. The gaming would continue, batters sent back down after ~120 AB or pitcher sent down @ 42 innings pitched. Have to limit the use of arbitrary values. Just count it from the day of debut, and it doesn't matter what happens after the day of debut.
  4. It would be an overall win for the players (and the fans), and the owners can use it to gain concessions in other areas. KISS principle is golden in contracts.
  5. That's exactly what I am saying, just use the end of the 6th season after the debut. No more manipulation of service time, or at least, a lot less - a player won't debut until the team is reasonably sure the player won't be going back to the minors. Will see the s***** ass vet get the call rather than the hotshot prospect with control issues or swing and miss concerns, more so than today.
  6. Are you going to update your team name
  7. Still have some nice filler pieces (JD potentially much more than filler) available for 2023 picks / pick upgrades. Could get more for these guys mid season depending on how they perform, so this is not necessarily a fire sale. D'Arnaud Hicks Pollock Donaldson
  8. Eh by the time Meza might be ready, Jansen would be a free agent (end of 2025). And Moreno, if the bat is as good as advertised, is full time 2B/3B/OF to reduce the wear and tear. I suspect you are just being glib, anyway.
  9. That would be interesting, although I would expect that between say mid May and September few prospects would get called up, as no team would want a player to become a free agent mid season. Why not make it a player becomes eligible for free agency at the end of the 6th season after their debut, except when the debut is on September 1 or later, in which case it is the end of the 7th season after their debut. This would promote player's debut being on the 1st game of the season, which everyone wants, because who doesn't want to see how the heralded rookie does from the outset. It would also reduce the disincentive for mid-season callups that is a drawback of your idea.
  10. Fangraphs slapped a FV60 on Volpe, future all-star.
  11. bookmarking this post
  12. Can chase upside in the league anytime. I'm in a similar league and last summer picked up Orelvis, Elly De La Cruz, and Roansy off the wire. I would have no plm at all trading Orelvis for an SP now, and pick up whoever breaks out similar to Orelvis next summer.
  13. Witt Jr., Abrams, Luciano, Marte, Oneil Cruz are ahead of Volpe. Highly unlikely to be a FTJ scenario. A Jeter Downs trajectory is more likely than that.
  14. Affirmative. You just mad cuz you covet Kirby.
  15. Actively shopping Aroldis and Darvish.
  16. I'm still a belliever. LOD is the only league I don't own him.
  17. This does the reverse, haven't you learned anything. After a couple of years of just missing the playoffs, and only getting older and more injury prone, it was time to move. Trying for a rapid rebuild. Dinger has a heck of a team now.
  18. Applied the Branch Rickey principle, better a year too early than a year too late.
  19. In a format where you can pick up prospects from any level at any time ("free for all"), I would take the proven MLB'er.
  20. Kirk and Moreno each be the personal catcher for one of the Big Four. That will get them each 30 or so games at C. Reasonable to maintain the skills.
  21. 'bout frigging time The delay is just tactics by the owners.
  22. So LOD Feb 1, BORED Feb 6, DDL Feb 16, BBDL TBD Suppose the details on time to pick, reduced time window on next pick if pick missed, and trade windows to come. As I recall, commishes were needed to effect pick trades.
  23. It's really team context that matters most here. You would be getting two middle rotation types and a borderline elite (top 20ish) OF for a top 5 OF. Do the necessary two deletions from your team have value or potential value? Do you need help in pitching cats, and the loss in hitting cats can be absorbed? On the surface, Houck, McClanahan, and Teo for Tucker is in your favour (with Cavalli instead of Houck, I would say the deal is fair both sides), but again team context is what is important in these consolidation deals.
  24. BA writeup on J-Rod came out today. They gave him a 75 overall grade. Scouting Report: Rodriguez is a physical presence at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds with the strength and athleticism to take over games. He destroys baseballs with 80-grade raw power and has been known to hit balls out of stadiums. His longest home runs come to his pull side, but he has the strength to drive balls out the other way with shocking ease. Rodriguez has the rare ability to get to his power without sacrificing the ability to hit for average. He is a career .331 hitter in the minors who identifies pitches well and stays short to the ball with a simple approach and direct bat path that allows him to make frequent contact in all parts of the strike zone. His swing occasionally gets too big, but he adjusts quickly within at-bats and doesn’t miss the same pitch twice. He is an adept two-strike hitter for a power hitter who stays on tough pitches and rarely strikes out. A plus-plus hitter with plus-plus game power, Rodriguez further enhances his game with his surprising speed. He is an above-average runner who is adept at reading pitchers and stealing bases, and he covers plenty of ground in all directions in right field. He is particularly advanced at ranging back on balls and keeps runners from taking extra bases with his plus, accurate arm. Rodriguez occasionally loses focus on defense, but he’s an above-average defender when he’s locked in. In addition to his physical skills, Rodriguez is an incredibly charismatic individual and a clubhouse leader. He has been bilingual since he was 18 years old and plays the game with a constant smile on his face, energizing his teammates and lighting up clubhouses with his outgoing, effervescent personality. Plus-plus or plus on all 5 tools.
  25. I've only seen positive reports on Moreno at 3B. He took grounders there daily in AFL and I have little doubt he is continuing to practice at the position all off season. He knows his best path to MLB is as a 3B/C.
