    Kinda silly to be talking about 1B. Every position has its unique skillsets. For example, what about turning double plays? If the metrics primarily focus on the one fielding the ball, I presume the play be the receiver at 2B does not get any credit? Most often, the receiver at 2B is the one that makes the more difficult play. So the primary WAR adjustments are park and defensive position. Are there any other key adjustments? I am sure there are quite a few others that are less significant.

    So doesn't consider the difficulty of the play. Probably comes out in the wash, mostly. Although some players make highlight reel plays more often than others. Kiermaier comes to mind. Yet on broadcasts I hear references to play difficulty. So a measure of difficulty is available and could be integrated? Tomorrow morning? lol

    Another way to look at it. There are about 550 MLB players that can probably play 1B effectively. There are about 80 MLB that can probably play CF effectively. Less than 80 can play SS or C effectively. Players will skills in shorter supply have more value to a team. Economics 101.

    It's both an exhibition for fans and a break for the players. Surely you don't have a complaint about the latter?

    Defensive adjustment is simply a way to normalize defensive value based on position. The adjustment based on empirical analysis of thousands of fielding events. Any statistical method is imprecise, so it's not perfect, but no one has yet come up with a better way to adjust for the fact that CF is a much harder defensive position than 1B, etc.

    What was interesting to me was the mound behaviour. He was much more poised / more focussed / less emotional. So a little reset in the minors may have worked. Between the ears is a big part of pitching.

    He's got a 123 wrc+ for the season, with an 18% K rate, down from 26% the last two seasons. You are not taking into account he was injured from May 15 to June 15. He played a few games after the contusion before going on the IL and most players need a few games to get going after coming back from injury. He's BACK!

    Nah, Jonn posted that at worst Frasso is a back end reliever. Not even close to being the worst possible outcome.

    No, at worst his recent struggles are due to arm issues (he had elbow surgery in 2020) and he will be out of baseball within a year.

    Of course its relevant. Some of those guys on the list were promoted aggressively also (they had to have been based on age)

    I think most if not all of those guys did it without repeating AA. Orelvis had 492 AA plate appearances in 2022.
