Short to the ball is how most players succeed against today's pitches. But as posted earlier, Vladdy is resisting the advice of coaches. Seems to be a stubborn fella, probably the same reason for the ice water dumping continuing long after it became stale and stupid. -

I never said Bauer was guilty, you ass. If you think otherwise, show the receipts. Spanky tried and failed. With Franco I am taking the same approach I did for Bauer, let the process play out. All I am doing here is making commentary without making a verdict of guilt or innocence. I do find it interesting that the same ones that said Bauer was a victim of extortion and innocent are saying Franco is not being extorted and is guilty.

I know someone who was an ESL teacher in DR. The private school she worked at had armed guards around it at all times. The reason? The kids were targets for kidnapping and extortion.

Good points. The other aspect is Dominican Republic is one of the poorest countries in the world, sharing an island with Haiti, which might be the worst / most desperate country in the world to live in. Everyone and their burro is hatching a scheme to get money from the rich ballplayers.

Way to misrepresent what I posted. It is a fact that 20% of Dominican teenage girls get pregnant. In Canada/USA the rate is less than 3%. This is not being racist, but presenting facts. There are significant cultural differences here that may or may not merit consideration. Vlad Sr has 8 kids with 5 different mothers. Fact, not racism. We all know about Robbie Alomar.

Reality is, it is highly likely there are other Dominican ballplayers that have done the same. Roughly 20% of Dominican Republic teenager girls get pregnant. This is irrevelant to the law, though.

It is true I am watching closely. At the same time, given my work (just finished a 180 page legal submission on a $2M construction claim on Tuesday), I can't help but point out speculative and vague assertions. These things are fact driven.
