  1. I wouldn't disagree with much of what you say here, if at all. Only thing I would say is that for me, they already know or at least consider Pompey at least a good defensive CF, the fact that they played him in CF over Gose tells me that they view Pompey as the CF of the future ahead of Gose. It's really no big deal, I think Gose is now viewed as a 4th OF type and if Pompey can continue to develop and become an everyday CF, that would be huge so it makes sense that he'd be the starter at CF.
  2. Hmmm, the Red Sox were a top 10 team, now they're probably a top 9 team...
  3. LOL, not at the same time though. If I suspend baseball, I'll drink some beer.
  4. Some people just don't like admitting when they are wrong, again and again. They were wrong about the O's. Wrong about the Yanks. Wrong about the Red Sox. Wrong about the Rays. Wrong about the Mariners and Royals. Seriously though. Some players may have been looking for an excuse to tank, but hey, at least tank all the way, this way the house is cleaned and the new tenants get a higher draft pick.
  5. I think we're all disappointed he hasn't been moved to 2B. Seriously though, I thought he might get a promo to AA after Pompey was promoted to AAA, but nope. I'd think he deserved to be promoted more than Nay did, but who knows...
  6. I just noticed Pompey has played CF in both his games at Buffalo. I bet Gose noticed a little sooner than I did.
  7. 2 mediocre teams, meh...pretty soon, I'll tune out baseball for a long while, like I ditched beer.
  8. Sure, except that no one thought Navarro was a good defensive catcher, but kudos nonetheless.
  9. Some of these promotions may be an attempt by AA to show his bosses that he's rebuilt the farm. On the other hand, some of them are legit promos so who knows.
  10. Yeah. KGM is obsessed with Navarro's weight, a fat chick probably sat on him and crushed his nuts or something 'cause that's all he comes up with. Navarro is what he is, even the F/O took a shot at him after they signed him by saying they overpaid for him...lol.
  11. So Navarro's pitch framing would improve if he got in better shape? I guess he should be in Jose Molina tip-top shape! How is Navarro in worse shape than last year or any other year? He looks the same to me, which is to say, out of shape.
  12. I, for one, am glad the Jays didn't listen to Bautista or Janssen. In July 2012 (I think), Bautista mentioned something about some promise that was made to him about improving the team. Later in July, the Happ trade happened. Later in 2012, the team shifted gears from a long term outlook to "win now" mode.
  13. Time to change our opinions on the Mariners GM. He be an idiot before, now he's ok....talk about fools...
  14. I haven't done the research so I may end up being wrong, again, but my sense is that they've spent more than enough on pitching...it's just that they've spent on the wrong guys. Romero and Morrow haven't helped this franchise for 3 and 2 years respectively. Buehrle is making like 16M/year and will make 19 next season. Dickey is paid pretty fairly, but the expectation was that he was an Ace so once you include the young assets given up to acquire him, he's overpaid, IMO.
  15. LOL, that was pretty horrible.
  16. The Ninja knew exactly what he was doing when he let him go.
  17. Oh and Gose was 0-4 with 4K last night.
  18. Depth could be much improved next year with guys like Pompey, Pillar plus guys like Burns, Schimpf, Jimenez and Goins in Buffalo. I guess Pillar could be part of a platoon with Gose, but we'll see. SP depth: Nolin, Graveman, Norris, possibly Taylor Cole.
  19. What I liked about his stay at AA was that he struggled early, but kept walking and struck out less than at Dunedin before turning things around. I think he played plenty well enough to earn this promotion, but I can see why some are calling it a panic move. But remember, same was said about Norris and look at how well he's pitched thus far. Good to see a positional prospect join the upper minors. Pretty decent year for the system with Stroman, Norris, Pompey and Barreto having stellar years with one reaching the majors, 2 of them AAA and Barreto probably deserved a promo to Lansing. Castro made it to Lansing. Smoral showed development. Osuna is back pitching although not pitching great. Some of the lower minors lefties also showing some good signs like Borucki, Lietz, Labourt, Smith. We could mention guys like Graveman as well reaching AAA and Cole AA. Both could be cheap SP depth options for next year, along with Nolin, or end up as cheap middle relievers. We'll see what happens...
  20. I think Simmons will end up wrong...again. I think this new guy at Rogers will make changes. 5 years is enough time. Took on lots of money and the results didn't follow, I think AA will be fired.
  21. Has this team tuned out for the season or is this just another one of their slumps? Probably a slump, teams don't quit...
  22. Nope, he's just not into the Seitzer approach that Buck and Pat kept referencing in May...
