  1. And who said he'd pitch "like this" forever? He's signed for 1 more year. I'm not against moving him, or any other player for that matter, however, I think some posters are getting a bit too giddy over guys like Norris and Sanchez. I can understand being comfortable with Stroman and Hutchison, but beyond them, there are big question marks if you're trying to contend. Also, given this FO's history, it's far from a given that they'd go after and actually sign one of the top FA SP and with good reason since they've never done much in free agency. Let Norris and Sanchez start in AAA for half the year and reevaluate then, unless you have several injuries.
  2. It's just one loss. Plus, higher pick!
  3. A.L. East is not as bad as people make it out to be. Some are just mad the O's are the best team in the division while a top 10 team like the Red Sox is in last place and the vaunted Rays are in 4th. If the Rays and Red Sox were 1 and 2, not many would be calling it crappy. So Jays fans, don't worry about last night's loss, Red Sox are a top 10 team...
  4. Maybe it'll make Navarro get in shape and become the greatest defensive catcher of all time, after all, that's all that's keeping him from reaching this level. Oh and maybe Reyes will get in shape as well thus turning into Ozzie Smith 2.0 since we know the reason bad defensive players are bad is because they're in bad shape.
  5. This organization has no clue how important defense is. The funny thing is, ok, it can't be that funny if it makes some cry, but still...I remember reading during this past off season that AA was looking to improve the D. Anyway...
  6. LOL, I thought we didn't care anymore? The GDT has come alive once again, it was dead just a few days ago. Guys, remember, this is your Toronto Blue Jays, they'll invent ways to lose just when you thought they were putting a run together.
  7. Edit: It's not Gibbons' fault tonight, it's Jays4Life's. He jinxed this earlier in the thread....ban please.
  8. Gibbons has been pretty bad at BP management this year, IMO, something he was supposed to excel at. Oh well, still tied at least.
  9. I'll never understand why managers make moves like bringing a guy like Graveman into the game only to pull him after giving up a hit.
  10. Why spend so much money on Martin when all Navarro needs to do is "get in shape" and he'd be fine? I mean, what type of tool thinks that all that's preventing Navarro from being a good defensive catcher is his being in too round a shape? Anyway...
  11. Red Sox are a top 10 team, it's just a bad night for them.
  12. Yeah, Kratz was supposed to catch him too, remember?
  13. Raysjays, Graveman made all of 7 starts above single A. I think he's got plenty to prove. Even so, he didn't need to be added to the 40-man for a while and is hardly a sure thing. It's not like he's an elite prospect, not to take anything away from him. Anyway, what's done is done.
  14. Yup. Plus, we know relievers can bounce back and forth between being good and bad from year to year. This is why I have an issue with adding Norris and Graveman when they didn't need to yet. I hope they do protect a guy like Burns, who, while not a flashy prospect, could be useful next year as he can play 3B, SS, 2B and I imagine even some OF. Not saying he's a great prospect, but you need depth guys as well as studs.
  15. As far as Pompey goes, it's undeniably a great story that he's from the GTA. However, what's most important is that he's performed at all levels this year and has basically earned this. We all know he's far from a sure thing, like most prospects, but it's great to see nonetheless.
  16. Not to mention he could rebound and be useful next year. He's also cheap (I think). Wouldn't be surprised if AA picks up McGowan's option.
  17. Getting rid of Delabar would be dumb.
  18. I'm pretty sure Graveman didn't need to be added so that's 2 guys (Norris being the other one). This is my concern. Pompey kept on hitting plus needed to be protected. We'll see how they handle guys like Burns and Cole who need to be added in the offseason or be exposed.
  19. I'd like to see Sanchez, Norris, Nolin and Graveman as SP depth next year. If they could plug one of the holes by trading either Dickey or Buehrle and then signing a FA to upgrade the rotation, it would be great. However, don't think it'll happen so I'll shut up.
  20. Innings limit's supposed to be around 130...he's already at 124 so yeah, dumb.
  21. Was Gustavo Pierre on the 40-man or will a spot need to be opened for Mayberry? Also, wasn't Morrow on the 60-day DL thus off the 40-man roster? If so, that's another spot needed. I, of course, have been wrong many a time so disregard if this is an addition to my long list of errors...
  22. It doesn't really matter as the season's over anyway. I hope he doesn't take at bats away from Pillar and Gose though. I'd rather those 2 get playing time. I'm assuming he'll get PH AB's.
  23. Butting into the discussion here. How much do you pay per month, where do you live and what provider do you have? I ask 'cause I'm looking to ditch Videotron here in MTL, but don't see many choices if any. And I don't plan on going over to Bell, had a bad experience with them already.
