  1. This seems like a trade for 2016 rather than 2015. I like Gose more than others here and now the Jays have 1 CF option and Pompey may be better off with more seasoning at AAA. On the other hand, they got a decent prospect at a position of need who may contribute by mid season. Like many have said, this could be win-win for both teams, but time will tell. It's clear AA will have to get another OF now that the Gose/Pillar platoon is out the window. My preference is that he sign a FA OF or get a young player like Travis for Nolin or Happ as I do not want him dealing away the farm again. We'll see what happens, but it sure looks like AA is dealing and dealing, quite the contrast to last off season.
  2. Rays will be fine as they're still owned/managed by Sternberg. Just like the D-Backs continue to make moves like this one, even if they've fired Towers. Maybe Happ can fetch a similar package for the Jays plus free up $$$. On the other hand, AA doesn't operate as the Rays do.
  3. Not to mention what Fister netted them.
  4. s***, that would've been a nice pick up by AA last April, but it wasn't meant to be. On the other hand, O's should probably be selling high on him, unless they think 2014 was the real Steve Pearce. Anyway...
  5. Follow who, Pearce or LTR, lol?
  6. Wut? They valued him so much that they waived him. Just like the Jays did with Lind in 2012. Plus, he would've had no choice but to play in TO, but you're probably trolling so good job.
  7. Nothing wrong with asking for this guy, didn't the O's waive him at some point recently? Anyway, this likely shows that AA did try to get more than Estrada for Lind.
  8. On the other hand, does this prove that Blair wasn't making this up and that there are a bunch of loudmouths on this board who, when proven wrong, just go on in their little world? Who really knows.
  9. Thanks...and good to know Jeff Blair doesn't post here.
  10. Link or you're Jeff Blair.
  11. Real good names with some talent to boot. Decent freakin' system.
  12. Yes, but keep in mind he's Domincan so we don't know exactly how high he can count.
  13. Pretty good job by AA of rebuilding the system, something many thought he wouldn't be able to do. Of course, it helps that they sucked in 2012 and 2013 and were able to get Hoffman and Pentecost. System seems pretty darn good up to # 15. I'd put Dan Jansen in there, but it's fine, we'll see how he does in full season ball. If he continues what he did in 2014, this system could be really good. Nay should be in the 8-10 range, but that's fine, I expect him to break out soon. If Osuna, Castro, Hoffman, Nay, Pentecost and Jansen come through, wow, that would be pretty darn good. Not to mention guys like Smoral, Labourt, et al in the lower minors. Wait and see.
  14. There have been reports out there that the 2nd team was the White Sox, but they didn't want to part with a similar (spare) part. I would've thought an AL team would be willing to pay more for a guy like Lind than an NL one, but I was wrong again.
  15. Rogers is pretty happy with AA and Beeston. Attendance and ratings have increased (I think) since they've been in charge. We'll see what happens.
  16. Good side of getting rid of Nessy: He won't block Dan Jansen in his full-season debut.
  17. This is the key for me. If in fact, they end up finding a taker for Happ and his 6.7Mish salary and get anything in return on top of it, then you'd have created about 10M in payroll room. Then we'd have to see how they'd allocate that $ so let's see how this plays out.
  18. You would think Lind would be more valuable to a team in the AL so maybe he DID NOT have that much value and we're are all just plain wrong in thinking that they should've gotten more for him.
  19. This is probably true. However, AA said clearly that they were either gonna trade him now or decline his option which indicates that they put themselves in a corner when they could've picked up the option and given it more time. Maybe some possible trade partners were waiting to see if the Jays would decline or pick up the option before showing any interest.
  20. Several of us are hoping AA follows up this move by trading Happ for something useful plus the $aving$ and uses this money wisely to fill other spots. However, others are rightfully skeptical of AA being able to address the team's most pressing needs and let's face it, they have reason to be skeptical. Also, too much focus on the BP is exactly the type of thing that many fans are afraid of. Like you say, we'll have to give this time to see how the 3M (maybe 4M if you include the buy-out?) are spent. I don't see how this trade couldn't still have been available a couple of weeks from now. However, there are some possible follow up moves that could help improve the club.
  21. Plus whatever they would get for Happ. Of course, we're assuming Happ will be traded, but we'll have to wait and see.
  22. That's the thing, they increase the budget significantly one year only to cut back a year or 2 later. I think we would all prefer it if they picked one direction and stuck with it.
  23. The firesale has begun. If they're gonna cut the payroll, just go into a rebuild. Anyone who knows anything about the way this franchise is operated from the top knew the payroll increase in 2012 was a mirage. They're always in-between.
  24. Like Pompey...
