  1. I have gotten over my anger fits and have realized that if I picked them to finish 90-72, it was because I thought they were a good team even though I wasn't on board with what they gave up in the trades with the Marlins and Mets. Thing is, if I thought they were good enough to win 90 games, as did so many others including experts, how can I then call management stupid for putting together this team? Yes, there were some wrong evaluations and they took on expensive and risky players, but like you state, it's far from a sure thing that they would've signed any FA pitchers. If they had struck out in signing FA's and they had gone into the season with the starting rotation they ended 2012 with, I'm sure a lot of us would've been very upset.
  2. Some people actually think players who struggle like Dickey has, do so on purpose or are not trying hard enough. Things have really gone badly for this team and no one thought it would play this badly and have as many injuries as it's had, including those who have called for a complete teardown. Things don't always go they were they're supposed to. I was pretty mad at the team earlier and have pretty much declared the season to be over. I'd love to be proven completely wrong.
  3. Watching Dickey struggle is particularly tough because he's the type of guy you root for. I really hope they continue to play well for the next little while, then Morrow gets back and they at least skip one of Dickey's start if not 15-day DL him to rest his back.
  4. I think it's because the bad starts have been horrible and quite embarrassing. The 13-0 Boston shelacking. The Mariners teed off on him. The White Sox in his last start. I'm sure I'm forgetting another one in there.
  5. I agree. At least skip one start and give it to Wang or Rogers when Morrow comes back. It would help if they won today and took at least 2 of 3 against the Rockies and Orioles.
  6. I was thinking that if/when Morrow comes back they should at least skip one of Dickey's starts and give it to Wang to see if it helps his back
  7. Thtat's fair. Improvement on the 70% will get them back to .500. Coming into ST, a lot of people were fine with the Blue Jays' 6 starters (Dickey, Morrow, Johnson, Buehrle, Romero and Happ), things just haven't worked out this way for different reasons.
  8. To me the problem hasn't been the 6th starter as much as the 1-4 starters not pitching up to their potential even when healthy.
  9. I'm glad they got to 6 games under, but remember, if Dickey struggles again, they'd be looking at trying to win the series with Wang on the mound. If they can take 1 of the next 2, then they'll have a chance to do some damage against the Rockies, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
  10. It would've been ideal, but it's not like they knew how much it would take to sign Darvish and I doubt Sanchez would've preferred to sign with the Blue Jays over the Tigers and it's not like the Tigers didn't have the cash.
  11. I agree, but Texas outbid everyone else by 20 million or something like that and didn't Sanchez have a deal with someone else, but had an agreement with the Tigers to give them a chance to match any offer? Anyway...all water under the bridge now or something like that.
  12. I was for signing guys instead of emptying the farm, but the other side of the coin is, would they have signed with the Blue Jays? Certainly, this team couldn't afford to go into the season with the rotation in the shape it was at the end of last year. I don't think Sanchez was realistic and even Jason Grilli turned down the Blue Jays which makes you freaking wonder. Anyway, can't go back in time. We'll see what happens.
  13. Take it one game at a time bro, if they win tomorrow, you don't watch on Sunday and so forth
  14. Who else was talked about that's actually doing well?
  15. I know a lot of us would've preferred that AA signed FA pitchers to shore up the shambles of a rotation the Blue Jays had, how are guys like EJax, Lohse and others doing since I'm too lazy to look it up?
  16. Relax bro, Dickey can't throw the hard knuckler so he's a question mark and Wang is going on Sunday in case you didn't know. If they take 1 of the next 2 I'd be very happy. Then they get the Rockies at home and have to at least win 2 of 3 against them and against the O's and Reyes and Morrow could be back right after that, we'll see what happens.
  17. Yeah for sure, not sure what team will give up anything good for a guy who's looking to retire at season's end, but it's certainly worth trying.
  18. I guess he could use some work too, but seems like a perfect spot for McGowan. Anyway...Dickey and Wang are pitching on the weekend....
  19. That call went Buehrle's way, but both sides' hitters have been unhappy with the calls. Buehrle deserves credit for pitching well for like 7 starts now, the umps certainly didn't seem to help earlier in the season.
  20. It's not good news to me. I feared the worst when I heard them say it was a "minor" muscle problem on his shoulder. It'll be a month soon since he pitched so how minor can it be?
  21. Apparently, AA already said Kawasaki would be sent down once Reyes comes back. If it was up to me I'd keep Kawasaki and Izturis.
  22. The Blue Jays can't get past the 7-games under .500 hurdle. If they could take 3-4 against the Rangers, it would be a good start. We'll see what happens starting at 8pm
