  1. Would be analogous to like Seattle or the White Sox giving Kenley Jansen 5/85, and then trying to compete in 2017 on a mid-range payroll. Maybe not the ideal move for them, but not obviously terrible either.
  2. I don't think I've ever seen anyone call Ryan a good signing. Every discussion about JP has people mocking that deal, with nobody defending it. Burnett yes.
  3. So, with everyone advocating giving the biggest relief contract ever to Jansen/Chapman, should we admit that we were maybe too hard on JPR for BJ Ryan? He was unquestionably on that level when Toronto gave him 5/47 after 2005. Then his arm exploded.
  4. Every rotation is going to go tits up in a hurry. The most important things are that the rotation looks good in 2017, and is not owed money long term. Check and check.
  5. He still doesn't hit the market until the 8th.
  6. Mods, I'm being repeatedly attacked by BBBB with no provocation. I expect a warning to be issued, followed by a lengthy ban if this behaviour persists. Thx, BTS
  7. thank Christ

  9. I'm curious as to how Trumbo would grade out if left at 1B full time. Teams keep putting him in the OF and tanking his value, but he was a 3B earlier in his career, and in 3000+ innings at 1B he has 12 DRS and 14.5 UZR (1.3/150). If he can play the position at an average level and put up a 110-120 wRC+, he actually does fill a hole. Obviously you don't want to give him a huge contract, but he could be a good addition at the right price.
  10. Not even a bit surprising, but it's good to have him back. What a great trade that was. What was Atlanta thinking?
  11. I don't really understand why you'd want to spend $40M on catching next year. Is the plan to also foot some of Martin's contract to get someone else to take him? What happens at catcher for the first 2-4 months when Ramos is recovering from surgery?

  13. I honestly can't tell if we're cool and you're joking, or if my skin will one day be hanging beside Boxy's in your closet.
  14. You think his value is up that much from a year ago? He's had seasons before where he's graded out as about average defensively, and season of 120-130 wRC+. He did both in 2016, but I don't think many teams have altered their perspective of him as a player. The market is a lot thinner this year, but going from 1/13 to 5/100 is a big jump.
  15. I'm curious as to why no Fowler. He seems like a decent bet to be worth close to the value of a 4/60 contract, which seems to be about where he'll land. And his skills set fits the team like a glove: probably a + corner OF with a leadoff hitter profile that should prevent Gibby from using Carrera in the spot.
  16. Does 5/80 get Jansen, or would it go higher? I think I'd do that.
  17. Yes plz. Except Mathis. I'd really like Ziegler. The wheels will fall off eventually, but for now he's very effective, and a lot of fun to watch because he's so unique.
  18. Steve Pearce Brandon Moss Joakuin Benoit Boone Logan
  19. Not necessarily directed at your post specifically, but I don't understand all the complaining people do about the forum. How many teams have a better message board community? We have tons of posters that have been here 5-10 years, GTDs that are anywhere between 500 and 3500 posts, 3 excellent forum dynasty leagues (and the BBDL), and a more intelligent level of conversation than you'll see almost anywhere that isn't an analytics based site. And regardless of what people like RJF say, new posters that don't act like complete morons are treated just fine. Regarding this thread, the forum's sense of humour is a part of its draw to a lot of people. That King could post a tongue-in-cheek thread and not get banned is part of the appeal. I don't understand where people think the growth is going to come from. There are a limited amount of people that are a) Jays fans, want to discuss the game at a level higher than reddit or facebook fan pages, and c) like the humour and lax moderation. I think the community feel to the forum is probably a big reason why some of the best dynasty leagues you'll find are hosted here. Would this place be better with 25% more posters and strict HFBoards-style moderation? I don't think it would.
  20. Kyle Hendricks. He's a pitcher for the Cubs.
  21. lol!
  22. Can someone confirm that this is the guy who joined one forum league and ruined it by gifting all of his best players to his IRL friend, and was never asked to play again because everyone thought he was a huge piece of s***?
