  1. Meanwhile Puig has a wRC+ of 91, and his playing time is probably in jeopardy because the Dodgers aren't going to keep running a bad player out there every day At least he's not boring.
  2. Wow, Albert Almora career MLB wRC+ = 105 and Jesse Winker has a 94 wRC+ in AAA this year.
  3. I don't have strong opinions on Duffy, but I'm pretty confident that Kazmir will be better than waiver wire options once he's activated. I could see a team with open DL spots being interested. I wanted to wait on him, but I'm now punting 3 roster spots with inactive players, which feels wrong as long as I'm in the playoff picture.
  4. Will be dropping one or both of Matt Duffy and Kazmir by Sunday if nobody trades for them. Looking for MiLB or waiver picks.
  5. When you have an opportunity to snag Jason Vargas, you don't let concerns about petty things like waiver priorities get in your way. Some lessons are costly to learn.
  6. It's Jason Vargas. None of this is sustainable. But you know what you do when Jason Vargas has 5 wins in 7 starts with a 5/1 K/BB and a 1.00 ERA? You make sure everyone in your league is properly annoyed about it.
  7. It's so nice to have an ace like Jason Vargas that you can rely on to boost your pitching line every time out.
  8. I would have permabanned banned Gary a long time ago. I've always thought this forum is lenient with trolls to the point that it's actually bizarre. But if I were you I'd just IL him and be done with it.
  9. Should have replaced him with JP Crawford.
  10. Have you noticed that Brendan Rodgers has a 164 wRC+ now?
  11. I haven't been this on-board with a talent change since me and Dallas Keuchel were a thing.
  12. Of course. They all happen right as I'm getting back from lunch, which gives me something to do.
  13. Cameron and Szymborksiokjoiji both hopped on the Alonso train in there chats today. Next stop, a 30/100 350/500 season.
  14. What makes their team construction so interesting is that OF defense has been undervalued during the time that they've been pursuing statues who slug. They could have presumably chosen to fill their OF with 1-2 WAR speedy defensive types instead of 1-2 WAR sluggers at similar cost, but have pretty consistently chosen the slugger over a period of many years. There must be some reasonably informed argument for this, probably.
  15. It's interesting that the Royals and Orioles both had great bullpens and mediocre starters, partly a result of not being able to compete financially for high-end starting pitching. They also both had very good infield defense. The Royals have a big park, and also loaded up on OF defense and contact hitters. The Orioles have a more HR friendly park, and filled their OF with high-power strikeout guys who can't really defend. Maybe Baltimore found that OF defense wasn't efficient for them given not just their park, but the bandboxes in their division?
  16. I think it's time for everyone to acknowledge that the Orioles are competently run. They field some unique teams, but I don't think you stumble on a 5-year run of success like they have, in the AL East, with a weak payroll, if your management isn't sound.
  17. I don't really care about this either way because they'll probably both be out of the majors by 2019, but I don't understand what risk you see with optioning Tepera to make room for a guy who might (and might not) be a bit better than Tepera but who doesn't have options. That's exactly what options are for and how teams use them: to yo-yo marginal players back and forth from AAA to suit their needs. Taking a flier on Ramirez is absolutely a valid reason for optioning Tepera. I mean, it's Ryan Tepera.
  18. Anybody want Matt Duffy for a draft pick or waiver upgrade? He's expected back in May sometime.
  19. He's always going to strikeout. The question is whether he hits the ball hard enough when he does make contact to contribute 15+ homers and 40 steals with a playable slash. So far in his career that's been the case.
  20. I'm holding. The numbers are back to what I hoped they'd be.

The way he's carrying the team right now while banged up is ridiculous.

Ottawa off to the ECF for just the 3rd time ever. It's good for the city to have a long playoff run.
