Irrefutable evidence that the people responsible for administering this league are not good decision makers, and everyone should cut their losses immediately.
I don't have a strong opinion on Peralta, but I feel like people sleep a bit on Matt Olson. He projects the same as guys like Freddie Freeman and Bryce Harper as far as wRC+ goes, and is probably going to be traded out of Oakland.
The idea is the kind of ham-fisted solution that would be suggested and then quickly shot down in a fantasy league. That it actually came from the MLB owners is absurd.
Since MLB started tracking saves in 1969, the only relievers with more relief appearances than Tim Collins and zero career saves are Ryan Webb and Jose Mijares.
Hurl is remarkably lucky to not be on a sex offender list.
Anyone else remember the game in Minnesota when he launched two absolute bombs (IIRC shortly after a recall) and we all lost our s*** thinking he had finally arrived?
We are we talking like Volpe has to be FTJ to be more valuable than Lance McCullers in a 14-team league? If it's a K/BB league McCullers is a back end starter who can't stay healthy, and was just shut down again in the playoffs with forearm issues.
I think he's probably a tier or two better than what you can expect to scoop in the waiver wire in a given season, even if you can scoop anyone who isn't owned. He's probably going to be a consensus top-5 prospect by the time the deadline rolls around. And McCullers has like a 50% chance of being healthy at that point. Gimme Volpe.
I still would. Volpe can probably be flipped for your pick of healthy good starters at the deadline. The hype is going to be huge if he succeeds at AA this year. If it's a 20-team league McCullers is ideally your 3rd or 4th best starter, especially if its K/BB.
Votto was a longtime True Cardinal and will be missed. Was a lot of fun watching him decide to hit for power again this year, and I could see him doing a Nelson Cruz for the next few years.
