I wonder if a bullpen catcher or clubhouse attendant would be forced to give the ball back if they caught it on the job. Would probably be worth resigning over if a court couldn't compel you to give the ball back to the team.

I was wondering about protocol there. Like, if a reliever caught it, could they have tossed the ball to a staffer that makes like 60-70k, or would the team prevent any employee from selling the ball?

I don't trust the Rays pitching staff at all. McClanahan hasn't been as good lately, and is battling a shoulder issue. Springs has thrown like 100 more innings than he has in any season since 2018. Rasmussen has thrown like twice as many innings as he ever has in a season. Baz is dead. Converting Springs and Rasmussen to starters has worked very well and will have played a big role in getting them to the playoffs, but I think the Rays are just going to run out of steam.

Thanks. Crazy matchup. It quite literally could not have been closer. I respect the hustle with the SP/RP strategy. The entire playoffs was a month-long gauntlet. Two ties and a very close 8-5 win. Happy it’s finally over.

Basically giving the ball to Scherzer for the title. If he beats Oakland in a typical Scherzer start, it’s probably over. That said, I’m only in this position because Oakland has ass blasted Kirby and DeGrom in the last couple days, so who knows what will happen.
