The Edmonton Oilers model. It tends to fail, because the type of management to finish at/near the bottom for multiple seasons is typically not the type of management to build a winner, even with top picks.That's why I'm worried that Houston will succeed. They seem to have a decent FO, just one with no interest in winning ball games right now.

Ironically enough, that one break lead to a WS win, and Cherrington is pretty dumn himself.

Has any other GM in the game had more than one such stroke of franchise-altering luck in the last 4 years? Edwin/Bautista/Wells is just a ridiculous run. I'm trying to think of similar breaks for other GMs.

In the context of the discussion, yes, certain opinions matter more than others. The point was that, while people certainly do complain about the Jays' 20-year rebuild, those aren't the same people that CHP typically argues with, and probably aren't the type to appreciate Hoyer and Epstein's work in Chicago.

It would be bad enough if there was undeniable evidence that it were true, but that's not the case. There's obviously a stigma against the turf, but there's no evidence to suggest that the type of turf used at RC is assiciatedc with increased injury risk. Baseless conjecture that's potentially damaging to the organization. -
