  1. “When I hear last week that we didn’t make decisions because we didn’t have the money or there was a hockey contract, it’s just flat out wrong,” he explained. “It’s patently false. We’ve got what we need to do. If there wasn’t a trade that was made, it was because Alex (Anthopoulos) and the baseball people didn’t think they wanted to part with the players for what they’d get back.” Does he have any idea who Brandon McCarthy is? Chase Headley? Martin Prado?
  2. The whole thing is just so ridiculous. There is no payroll space. That much is obvious given that they haven't added a player with a salary exceeding $3 million since the end of last season. There isn't a problem with that - a $135 million payroll commitment from Rogers is more than enough to win if you have a decent FO. They just sound incredibly stupid spouting off about how "the flexibility is there". If the flexibility is there, f***ing use it to improve the team that's tied for a wild card spot. Either the FO is lying about payroll flexibility, or they've been trying fruitlessly to spend some cash for the last 10 months and are just ineffective beyond all understanding. Either way, Beeston and AA are embarrassing themselves.
  3. Couldn't add salary at the deadline, but the payroll space is there if they ask. The loathsome collection of clowns running this team are impossible to cheer for.
  4. Nice. It's good to see him just hitting fly balls again. For obvious reasons, that man is not going to last long as a singles-hitting DH. If it keeps up it will be interesting to hear what went wrong mechanically that had to be fixed.
  5. So I don't know what the f*** was/is wrong with Billy Butler, but maybe he's coming out of it? FB% and ISO by month: April = 21.3, 0.031 May = 24.1, 0.087 June = 29.3, 0.125 July = 30.6, 0.140 August = 35.3, 0.250 Since the start of June = 30.4 FB%, 0.144 ISO, 116 wRC+ Career = 31.8 FB%, 0.155 ISO, 118 wRC+ Maybe Country Breakfast has once again figured out how to hit the ball in the air kinda hard?
  6. Please don't share that horror show for the forum to see. Also, FU GD.
  7. Our whole line looks like my DDL team's season. This is neither bad nor good.
  8. Oh yes. Maybe the A's will win the WS and use the momentum to give Lester a new $120 M deal. Please? Edit: our pitching ratios are silly this week.
  9. Jon Lester is perfect through 5 in Oakland.
  10. 7-6 round 1 playoff loss to Nick that came down to the Sunday night game. I sat Ortiz to preserve a high 0.300 team OBP. Nava and Cano got on base like 6 times in 8-9 chances for Nick to flip OBP. Ortiz got on base enough times that I would have won had I played him. My team then dominated the next two weeks taking me to a 5th place finish that might have been a DDL championship had I played Ortiz, or Nava not had a good game. FML
  11. I ridiculed North for calling him a legit MVP candidate. And given his 0.6 fWAR, I still do. North, your dumn. 0.2 fWAR in the last two seasons MVP CANDIDATE
  12. Anything you got from Beckett had to be considered a bonus though.
  13. What it should tell him and what it will tell him are tow very different things. We're talking about the man that traded Napoli for Francisco and guaranteed CoCo $4.5 million because saves.
  14. I could see Sanchez on the pen, but would he get the closer role out of the gate? History leads me to believe that AA is not going to be satisfied going into the season with Loup and Cecil as his only established pen arms and Sanchez in the mix. He's going to want 4-5 guys back there with experience. If not Janssen, I think he invests in at least one, but probably more, of Miller, Uehara, Grilli, K-Rod, Gregerson, Cain etc... I think money will be spent there.
  15. Also Sammy, I sent you a PM like 3-4 days ago.
  16. I agree with Hurl here. With Santos, McGowan, and Delabar all basically writing their ticket out of town this year, I will be pretty surprised if AA lets Janssen walk. He's shown an inclination to invest in the bullpen before. Something along the lines of a 3/21 deal seems likely.
  17. Got a pretty interesting offer for Robertson. Have to think about it. Anyone else?
  18. But yeah, I don't really get this for silvergun. Starting CF and good young SP 4/5 to upgrade from Rondon to Jansen and get a couple of guys who won't likely make the cut. I do not like it. But really I love it.
  19. David robertson available for a good starter.
  20. Those percentages are all way too high if we're talking about them becoming average major league starters.
  21. I'll take the under.
  22. Son of a bitch my offense has me despaired.
  23. IMO the only arms worth keeping next year that have pitched this year in the pen are Loup and Cecil (Sanchez is prob ably back starting). I'm pretty concerned that this means a lot of assets will be dumped into the pen this offseason though.
  24. He strikes out 5/9. GB rate goes down or BB rate goes up and he goes from serviceable 6/7 to waiver fodder.
