  1. That's not even necessarily a criticism of AA. MLB isn't the stock market, and outside of the Rays, most well-run teams aren't relying on buying distressed assets and then trying to trade them at peak value. Teams with budgets pay for good players, and then just keep them or let them walk via FA.
  2. You seem to have a hard time following the flow of conversations, but I was responding to a post defining AA’s MO here as buying low and selling high. That wasn’t his MO at all. He didn’t sell, and was very comfortable paying sticker price for good vets.
  3. AA had a habit of trading for ageing injury-prone vets on FA contracts. He doesn't do it anymore, but it's what let to Toronto having a short contention window.
  4. His agent moved to Japan with him?
  5. The poll to convert 2 SP slots to P passed so I made the change
  6. Maybe it was a show of respect to a long-time valued employee that they think will help with retention. Maybe they actually think she has a skill set that would make her a good candidate for the job, and feedback from players that they'd like playing for her. Maybe they wanted to signal that they're an organization that is welcoming to skilled people, regardless of background or immutable characteristics Maybe they wanted the good publicity that they're getting. Maybe it was a psy-op to get Aubrey Huff to state publicly that he thinks women are too illogical to lead so they can continue not inviting him to team events. Probably it was multiple things. But more importantly: who cares? They don't have a set number of people they're allowed to interview. Setting two hours aside costs them virtually nothing.
  7. A tale as old as time
  8. connorp threw out stupid bait
  9. IIRC he was the same age she is now when he was made GM of the jays.
  10. A 10-year employee applied for a promotion, the team granted her an interview, and will likely hire someone older/more experienced. Why even try to parse through their various motivations, let alone get angry about it?
  11. The old Anthopoulos soft demotion
  12. Rehashing your feelings about a trans swimmer in a thread about baseball, on a forum about baseball.
  13. Because calling trans people normal isn’t against forum rules.
  14. Yeah, this reads like a salary thing. Probably declined her option to negotiate a better deal and the Marlins said no. If so, seems foolish to cut the head off your baseball ops department over a single executive's salary.
  15. Her contract expired after 2023. They probably didn't want to pay her.
  16. Stephen Vogt is apparently also interviewing. Not surprising at all to see him moving towards a management position.
  17. lmao holy f***. Just an absolute clown.
  18. Huff is just a bitter, s***** person. Completely dismisses her experience because his feelings are hurt that a woman got a chance to interview for what he considers a man's job.
  19. There flat out isn't a defensible reason to criticize the Giants for giving an interview to a presumably high-performing employee of 10 years. This says a lot about Huff, none of it good.
  20. You know I love you Connor
  21. Still shopping Justin Turner and Seth Lugo for picks/prospects/long term red flags
  22. My god I love this forum. I also hate this forum.
  23. Also, I’m officially calling connorp out for disparaging the intelligence of the forum regulars when he hasn’t won a forum league since the Obama administration
