  1. Anyone want to trade me an Ike Davis/Matt Joyce kinda guy for a Tsuyoshi Wada/Jason Vargas kinda guy?
  2. Whoever Jonathan Schoop belongs to: identify yourself so you can take him back.
  3. Jason Vargas and Tsuyoshi Wada available for a prospect.
  4. It's more the opportunity cost that concerns me. If they like Smoak as part of their 25-man, that's a roster spot that's not going to be filled by someone better than Smoak. Giving playing time to very probable replacement level talent is a big part of why this team has been bad in the last two seasons. Nothing to worry about yet, but him being on the opening day roster is not a positive thing at all.
  5. Guys, Smoak is a 28-year old 1B-only bat who has a career 94 wRC+ over 2200+ PA and doesn't even play good defense. He isn't a major league player.
  6. Can someone please ban longtime reader? Thx.
  7. Having him on the 25-man would be gross (assuming he has no options). That's a long ways away though.
  8. Does Melky have a sub-80 IQ though? (possibly)
  9. That analogy sucks, but your still dumn.
  10. Guy does bathsalts and cuts his own head off with a handsaw. Handsaw was the main factor, basthsalts just made it worse.
  11. Pretty sure this is the result of two men digging their feet in the ground and having a dick-measuring contest, and not a result of management going to Rogers with Seitzer's contract and getting turned down.
  12. FU JFaS. FU.
  13. Guy has already made $30 million in his career. I would say he's already set up for a life of luxury forever.
  14. Not a big deal, but it says a lot when coaches keep jumping ship. AA is really bad at despairing people.
  15. I really hate North's offseason so far.
  16. I'd like to do something like 1st + Elias Lindholm + prospect(s) for a forward.
  17. I'd rather go that route than devote a significant portion of the team's resources to a free agent reliever. A lot of those guys are going to be replacement-level though. I think there is value in getting a guy you can reasonably expect to give you a win or better.
  18. Ah. I think there is some merit to the idea of rotating guys through the DH spot and trading Lind. BUT, you still have to replace the 1-2 wins that Lind provides. If you're trading Lind for, say, Tony Watson and then using the $6 million savings on Chase Headley, the team is a lot better.
  19. Sure, in a world where payroll can go to $190 million Robertson would be awesome. Is that the discussion we're having? I think the assumption of a $140 ceiling is a lot more interesting/realistic, and Robertson really doesn't make any sense in that situation.
  20. Mayberry is a replacement-level hack who probably isn't even average offensively. Lind is comfortably above average as a hitter. You lose 1-2 wins in that exchange.
  21. You're saying this to be contrarian, but it's a very bad idea.
  22. Because, presumably, there is a finite amount of money available to be spent, and trading for a pre-arb reliever is a lot more preferable to paying sticker price on a similarly skilled free agent.
  23. Goddammit Darcy Kuemper.
  24. Just walk away and re-invest the money
