You might not even need to miss the playoffs if you're wise. Even this offseason you can nab an elite prospect for Ortiz, who you don't really even need.

Yeah. I learned that lesson the hard way this season when I penciled Gyorko and Bogaerts in for starting spots. Youth is nice, but it also comes with a higher likelihood of attrition, and trying to replace multiple bats midseason when 2-3 first or second year starters stumble a bit is pretty hard. I'm a lot more open to rostering 30+ year olds than I was two years ago.

A bit older than Spanky's group. That's a good team, but he no longer looks primed to crush the league for the next 5 years. Funny how things change.

I guess I just have more faith in Votto getting over his thigh problem than Tulo turning in healthy seasons going forward. It seems like when players start going down the road Tulo is on, things don't really ever get better.
