  1. There just isn't a whole lot out there. Assuming Sandoval and Hanley are too expensive, you have Lowrie, Cabrera, Drew, and Headley. IMO Cabrera is going to get a multi-year deal and is a decent bet to tank completely, and Drew really isn't bankable at all. Headley and Lowrie on ~3/40 deals are really the only attractive options.
  2. They could roll with Greiss + Gustavsson/Enroth/Fasth next year and get the same value for like 1/3 of what they'll spend.
  3. It makes sense to keep Pompey in AAA if they can. That way when someone goes down you have a proper backup. They really should add an OF though. Right now it's Bautista, and then a bunch of low-ceiling high-risk guys who might contribute if things go well. An Aoki would be great.

  5. What a stupid waste of money.
  6. Dodgers have figured that throwing cash at the front office is the best way to spend.
  7. Ugh, again: I'm not giving a cash reward to the winner.
  8. Ewww. That's two pure DH's who just to maybe get a 110 wRC+ from the position.
  9. I've had like 3 teams flirt with making a deal for him multiple times.
  10. You don't think they'll keep Reynolds around?
  11. I think he'll be very good. Why do you take pleasure in my misery?

  13. Yup. If he ends up in Boston or New York or something I'll likely keep him and move a different bat. Pretty much anywhere is better than KC I guess.
  14. Still shopping Billy Butler for a prospect or two. He should be out of KC next year!
  15. Probably more like $7.5 M for Estrada and Smoak. Like $6.5 M in savings, but it's also a considerable downgrade unless Smoak has just been unlucky for a long time. They have a lot of holes to fill to get the roster into something cohesive.
  16. Hard to have faith that this FO is capable of making the additions required to get the lineup looking like anything but a turd.
  17. SS - Reyes RF - Bautista 3B - Lawrie 1B - Encarnacion C - Navarro DH - Smoak CF - Gose/Pillar LF - Dirks 2B - Izturis BN - Gose/Pillar BN - Thole BN - Mayberry BN - Kawasaki Roster is in shambles.
  18. If they wanted to spend $5 million on a reliever, there is pretty much endless opportunity to do that on the market. They took a guy with value, and punted him. Despite not actually having a backup.
  19. Estrada: $5 million reliever. Jesus Christ.
  20. His bat is going to be missed. He really added depth to the lineup when used properly. The offense will suffer.
  21. $1.25 M set on fire with the budget already very tight. No big deal.
  22. Your 3rd string catcher should be making the min. And not be on your 25-man. It's little things like this that add up to tank entire seasons.
  23. Thole @ 1.75 is pretty awful.
  24. Bench sucks.
