  1. Probably, that's why having like 6 guys for depth is pretty important. Morrow is made out of glass and can probably only be counted on for 100IP per season moving forward.
  2. Man if Drabek can keep the walks minimal, this could be a big boost to our pitching depth for next year.
  3. f*** it, AA go get this guy. This team is already a mess, lets see if we can at least get a potentially big arm without giving up more assets.
  4. Sure we can. The key will be the depth behind them. Lets assume JJ is back next year, the rotation will be (in no particular order) Dickey, JJ, Morrow, Buehrle and Happ. Depth behind is Romero, Stroman, Nolin, Hutch, Drabek? AA would likely need to bring in one more guy who is a #3 or better. Bump Happ to AAA and have him ready as the #6 right out of spring training. The other 5 guys below in the depth charts will get more time to work on things in the minors. I feel a lot more confident about the potential depth heading into next season, the bigger question will be how the guys in the rotation hold up and perform.
  5. Unless AA is hoping to keep JJ and then try to entice him to sign a new deal in the winter. As it is, its unlikely he gets the type of contract he thought he would before the season started. Perhaps AA sees an opportunity to keep JJ in the fold long term rather than going the FA or trade route?
  6. As much as I would like to see Janssen moved for a quality asset in return, I don't really think it happens. I have a feeling AA doesn't want to disrupt the pen one bit. Maybe he moves a less significant arm or two. I really don't know what to make of this mess. We have so many f***ing relievers yet we have black holes all over the rest of this roster. Someone needs to smack AA in the head and knock some sense into him. Time to revamp this team or were likely looking at last place again next season. The joys of being a Jays fan.
  7. Sure, but most people watching the game don't even realize the implications of it.
  8. The whole thing is a joke. This game should be for fans to see all the great players in one game, not to have an impact on something meaningful.
  9. It's better than using the ASG to determine it. As it is, scheduling is a joke because teams in the same league are not even playing a balanced schedule. Teams in the AL West and Central have a significant advantage schedule wise over teams in the AL East for the WC. At least awarding it to the team with the best overall record is more reasonable than letting a group of players (most of whom won't be in the WS) determine home field advantage.
  10. The implications of the ASG is f***ing ridiculous. The fact that it impacts the WS is complete and utter BS. The vast majority of players in the game won't even be in the WS. The ASG should just be a fun game for people to watch, not potentially screwing a better team out of home field advantage.
  11. Yeah, one player isn't going to tell us that, especially if the interest isn't there.
  12. Well this team will clearly be making another run for next season, so I highly doubt their isn't payroll flexibility for the coming winter.
  13. They have known since last winter payroll would go up quite a bit based on the structure of current contracts and arbitration eligible players. So they have a clear idea of what the 2014 payroll is already sitting at. How much it goes up beyond that no one knows, but I would be surprised if they didn't at least have enough to add about $15M more. I just don't see this team going in so big this past winter and then decide that is it. Attendance and ratings support the idea that payroll can and probably should go up.
  14. Didn't Beeston say a few weeks back that this team has more money if needed? I highly doubt they don't add more payroll this winter.
  15. Yup. Paying someone to the point where it would probably not even make sense to trade him. He is costly, but his innings are still valuable at the back end of the rotation.
  16. I would bet against that. I don't think there is any chance he is gone.
  17. Only way we get him is with an extension and that seems unlikely.
  18. Sure they would, but chances are they wouldn't even divulge that info. If they did they wouldn't be stupid enough to burn bridges by making s*** up.
  19. People just love to panic, lol.
  20. He likely calls him up soon if Romero continues pitching well and if he can be half decent AA should flip him in the winter.
  21. Ive worked in the industry and yes you tip out but anyone who looks at it table by table doesn't belong. By the end of a shift even the worst of the worst servers are pulling in $15 an hour (tips and pay combined). I always laughed at those who cry about tips.
  22. Yup. AA knows next year will be a big year for his career. He is looking to shape this team for then not now. The plus for him is that he could sell the idea to the casuals that he is still focused on this year too.
