    Bidding and bidding to win are two separate things. I'm sure AA puts in a bid, but I doubt he will be willing to pay Tanaka the contract he will command.

    Oh FFS. Every time I check this board it's just some other team making a move. As the FA market thins and our options dwindle, AA is going to feel more pressure to trade away the farm.

    Well if the plan is to go with Goins/Izturis, the. Rolling the dice on Roberts and having both as contingency plans is better than nothing I guess.

    At this point is there even any point in trying to upgrade this team? The most sensible options are gone and now we can either overpay in both prospects and $$ or sign some Hail Mary options. Just trade Bautista FFS.

    LOL. I think we can both agree it's a great time to move Bautista considering this f***ed up market. I actually think AA is the type of GM who could be ballsy enough to make this kind of move, but someone like the Beast may put a stop to that. Bautista could land us a solid arm and net us a solid prospect. I was all for the Profar rumor but I'm not sure how much legs that rumor actually had.

    I'm actually kind of hoping AA moves Bautista this winter for a younger MLB SP and a prospect. He can fulfill his desire to bolster the rotation all the while improving the farm and strengthening the team by age.

    I get the feeling that AA is trying to be overly cautious this winter considering how terribly last season turned out. In all honesty, I don't mind that approach as long as he keeps things moving in the right direction and is not at a complete stall.

    I'm at the point now where I'm not really expecting anything to happen.

    Stroman should start the year in AAA. We need that type of depth. If he starts the year in the rotation then something probably went terribly wrong.

    Of course when something does finally happen and there is a chance it could be us, there has to be all this mystery team BS.

    I'm actually getting my hopes up. Probably not a smart thing.

    Floyd would be a solid signing. If it's us then surely there will be one or two options on the contract seeing as Floyd may not be ready to contribute to begin the season.

    We don't. But there are no indications at all that he did. I'm not ripping him for this, just pointing out that this would have been a good player to sign.

    f***, this was the exact player AA should have targeted and he even signed for less than what anybody thought.

    It's just the popular opinion to bash everything Jays right now. I remember how several were saying our farm would be bottom 5 last winter after the trades and we were much better than that. We're extremely weak at the upper levels, but that is a stretch from saying our farm is terrible, we just have a very young crop of prospects and with that comes a lot more uncertainty.

    Nah, let him ride off into the sunset. He had a great career, I don't want to watch a subpar version of Doc. He did the right thing.
