    A healthy Melky makes this lineup so much more dynamic. If he has his legs back he could make an excellent #2 hitter for this lineup with a solid OBP. The lineup certainly has a ton of exciting potential.

    Ervin Santana and Ubaldo Jimenez never had as horrific a drop off as Romero. He couldn't pitch a clean inning last season if his life depended on it.

    This is one of the reasons I lost interest a long time ago, now I just watch occasionally. Intentionally s*** teams get rewarded with potentially franchise altering picks and undeserving teams make the playoffs over superior teams.

    This is hardly a basement team with Santana. He makes this team better. Maybe not by as much as many would want, but he gives this team a chance to get a guy who can eat innings and in the process improve our SP depth.

    The concerns are valid, but there are plenty of larger concerns on this roster. I think people unfairly pick on Happ because we have other comparable options, but that depth is going to play a huge role this season. We need guys like Happ, the bigger problem is that we are relying on a guy like Morrow to be one of the leaders of this rotation and that is a huge gamble. Plus we have no legitimate #4 SP right now that we can count on to eat innings. Santana could change things a bit, but who knows what happens there. My bet is he ends up on another team anyways.

    Okay, gotcha. I know I'm in the minority on this, but I have no problem with Happ on this team for what he costs.

    Happ makes about 1/26 of the teams payroll as is. He is hardly the problem.

    This is just a terrible argument. No offence, but this proves nothing. I will give you that his height is a major hindrance, but you're sole argument is based on height, yet Stroman has had no problems to date in that regard.

    I'm intrigued to see Hutch in the rotation, I am a big fan. That being said added depth is a good thing. Let the kids ease into the rotation and phase them in. If it's a one year deal, it makes a lot of sense.

    Paul Maholm was signed to a minor league deal with a other team like a month ago.

    Realistically, I can't see this team ever going the route of a full blown rebuild within the next few years, more likely a retool, but in a very cost conservative way. It can work if the right guys are traded off at the right time.

    Been saying this for a long time. Why people want him in this team is beyond belief.

    The fanbase is just that, they want a winner and there is nothing wrong with that. It's not like we have been in a slump for 2-3 years, this is now 2 decades. Clearly this team has been mismanaged in a horrific way.
