Investing anything more than 3 years into SP is just crazy. Personally, I would much rather just trade guys as they approach their FA years and restock the arms into the system each year. Similar to the Rays, but also go out and sign aging vets on short term deals when needed. Guys like Burnett, Kuroda, etc. Signing SP to long term deals almost never seems to work out. Invest it into the lineup.

The problem is that the odds start stacking against them considering Columbus would be tied with the leafs for 9th and have 2 games on them. Leafs would have to pass 2 teams that both have games on them.

Columbus also leading Detroit. Not good for the Leafs.

Because McCowan has a huge listening audience. Wilner is just a guy who is part of Jays game broadcasts is easily replaceable. Like or hate McCowan, Wilner would get tossed out before anyone even looked funny at McCowan.

If he is willing to come on a minor league deal, then sign him up.

Traded for him in one of my dynasty leagues a month ago for this very reason. At worst he could make a great holds guy, but the SP potential is appealing from a low cost fantasy perspective.

Columbus in OT over Detroit would actually be worse for them. If that plays out and leafs lose and Washington wins, leafs would be tied for 9th with Columbus who has 2 games on them. Detroit also has 2 games on them so they are in great shape at this point.

Leafs losing again, Washington winning, leafs could fall to 9th tonight and Washington has a game on them as well. If Columbus wins as well leafs would be utterly f***ed.

Looks like we may end up with 3 swing guys in the pen to start the season. At least the good thing is we have guys who can eat a ton of s*** innings allowing our top 5 pen options to work higher leverage innings. Once Janssen returns (assuming he starts the first couple weeks on the DL) then someone will have to go unless another injury occurs in that time. -
Yup, although I think McGowan gets the rotation spot with Redmond going to the pen. This might be the better course of action anyways as we can try to extract as many starts from McGowan in the early going until his arm falls off at which point Redmond then slides into the rotation.

At this point he is lucky to still be on this team.

I'm thinking Janssen starts the season on the DL, which gives him a bit of wiggle room for now.

I am fine with this. All Happ had to do was not s*** the bed and the spot was his. At this point go with the 5 best and try to either flip one or two out of option arms.

AA is going to be desperate to trade one of these guys or risk losing one for nothing. A phantom injury is in order here.

Bautista and EE would bring in a killing considering contracts. Reyes would bring in something decent but Buehrle at this point would just be a salary dump.

If this team somehow contends it will buy AA and Beeston 5 more years once Rogers see the short term financial gain.
