Dodgers clinch the NL West for the 5th straight year
Suddenly lacking confidence in them after feeling most of the year that they were the best team in baseball
Yeah you probably have to guarantee 5 years
However no front office is going to pull a Seattle and give Donaldson the same length of contract that Cano got
Front offices are smarter now for the most part
And Machado and Harper are many years younger. They're the only ones who might get 8+ years
Agree on all counts
If he wants a 5 year deal (and he should), I want next year to be year 1, to reduce the risk of a bad year at the back end
He seemed to appreciate the 2 year deal they gave him last year when they didn't have to
Shapiro:
"It's hard to imagine a scenario where we're a better team without Josh Donaldson"
"It's hard to imagine a scenario where Josh isn't a part of a a championship team here"
"It's an almost certainty that he will be back here next year"
I hear you guys on Sanchez
But I'm hopeful
I'm not signing two SPs in addition to Estrada
I'd like one legit SP 2 caliber guy that I want anyway
then also sign a swing man type like Anderson or Chavez as well
If Sanchez is no good in spring training the swing man gets a starting spot. If Sanchez is good to go that swing guy starts the year in the bullpen
